special delivery! aidan to vivienne @okvivicnne​ febuary 14th

When Aidan’s tasked with delivering special Valentine’s grams to Vivienne, she has to admit that she’s a little nervous. She doesn’t know much about the girl beyond seeing her around Retrograde from time to time and her interactions in the big gay group chat everyone seems to be a part of. She does know, though, that she’s friends with her best friend’s girlfriend, Sydnee Avery, so she at least has a little bit of an in there. She sends off a text to Sydnee to ask if she knows where she can find Viv, and is met with a simple response: “idk i’m with cj rn!! check her insta story though, you’re bound to find her. girl doesn’t go five minutes without an update 😹good luck!!! and happy vday!!” along with the link to the girl’s Instagram profile. 

And Sydnee’s right--when Aidan goes to Viv’s profile (and hits the follow button for good measure), she has to tap through what seems like a thousand stories before she gets to the most recent one. It’s conveniently geotagged with the location Venice Boardwalk and Aidan is quick to hop on her longboard to make her way down there. To appease her fellow coworkers and follow the theme of the day, Aidan’s paired her favorite pair of jeans with the only pink t-shirt she owns, and dad hat that has an embroidered Cupid on it that she purchased specially for the occasion. She has the grams and the presents that go along with them tucked safely in her backpack, and before she knows it she arrives at her destination. 

The boardwalk is buzzing with couples walking hand in hand to celebrate the love-filled day, but it doesn’t take Aidan too long to find Vivienne as she walks around with her board tucked under her arm. She approaches the girl a little awkwardly, not wanting to bother her or interrupt. “Uh, Viv?” she starts with a welcoming smile. “Hi! I don’t know if you recognize me outside of Retrograde, but I’m Aidan, the bartender?” She sets her board on the ground momentarily as she takes her backpack off her back and pulls out the three Valentine’s addressed to Viv. “Special delivery!”

(RETROGRADE BAR/OWNER & BARTENDER) aidan thompson (34, she/her, cis woman) we hear aidan is laidback, fun-loving, and welcoming, but can also be disorganized, flippant, & closed off (chyler leigh) 

aidan grew up in a small maine town, about an hour outside of portland. her family was far from well off, but they were always able to make ends meet.

she’s the older sister to a set of twins, her brother matt and sister jamie, who are 28.

growing up, aidan was very shy and anxious, but she had a core group of friends from elementary school that stuck all through high school. when aidan came out her senior year, her friends were very supportive, but they drifted apart after high school.

her parents weren’t so supportive, though. aidan was never really close to her parents, but since she told them she was a lesbian before leaving for college, their relationship has been even more distant.

school came naturally to aidan, and she always got good grades despite not really caring too much. school was too boring for her. she really only went to college to appease her parents, and to get out of her small town.

college ended up being pretty great, though. she graduated from umaine with a degree in sociology, ‘cause she found it interesting enough. more importantly, she made a group of lgbt best friends and found her true love, marijuana, both of which helped her get over the shyness and anxiety that had burdened her so much thus far

after college, she courageously moved to la to make a life for herself and embark on an adventure. she bounced between different jobs she didn’t really care about for a few years until falling into what ended up being her dream job: a bartender at gay bar in west hollywood. 

fast forward however many years, and aidan is now the owner and head bartender at west hollywood’s hottest lesbian bar, retrograde. retrograde feels like home to aidan, because of the community it fosters and because she created it with the people she considers family. 

some bonus facts

aidan is a lesbian first and foremost, anything else comes second. her lesbian identity and community is one of the most important things to her

she’s pretty much always at least a lil stoned

people say it’s ironic that she’s a bartender but doesn’t really like alcohol much (besides beer and the occasional glass of red wine)

she loves space and the stars, and is super interested in astrology (sagittarius sun, taurus moon, scorpio rising)

she’s very close to her younger siblings

she’s not great at opening up about her emotions because that’s not how she was raised--but she will open up once she feels comfortable enough

she’s very goofy and loves to laugh; her mission in life is to have as much fun as possible pretty much.

she wears sweatpants pretty much whenever she can and loves being comfy and cozy

she loves playing video games and listening to music

she has always loved skateboarding even though she worries sometimes that she’s too old for it now
