RTX 2018 Attendees (this is a long read)

Unfortunately, this year I am unable to attend and honestly I am a bit disappointed, but I want to give some knowledge to new attendees. I may only have 3 years under my belt, but I learned a lot over the years.

So. To my RTX babies:

First, download the RTX App if you haven’t already and follow on twitter:

SECURITY CHECK.

Last year they had this, this year there is more to it. So follow this nifty map they posted on twitter.

HAVE YOUR RTX BADGE ON YOU AT ALL TIMES. 

This is pretty much a law. Don’t ever forget this. 

DRESS COMFORTABLE. 

It is hot and you will be on your feet most of the day. If you are in cosplay, take breaks. 

STAY HYDRATED. 

I can’t stress this enough. If you are unaware, it is HOT in Texas and there are going to be moments where you will be waiting outside for a long time, especially this year. I have seen people pass out because they forget their basic necessities. Make sure you have water and food.

PLEASE EAT. 

Take the time in between panels to get food. The show floor usually has stands where you can buy food, but there are multiple places outside of the convention center to buy from, including restaurants. Stop by a convenience store and pick up some granola bars. Trust me. It will help a lot especially when you are waiting for hours.

PICK AND CHOOSE. 

Do not automatically assume you will be able to get into every panel. The rooms have a max capacity. Pick your panels by priority. Use the app to schedule yourself. 

Panels are streamed online, so if you’re in line for one panel, watch another on your phone (the center has wifi lol)

Remember, don’t be upset if you miss a panel, there are plenty of things going on all around the convention center (CENTER STAGE) and the hotels or even in the area. Downtown Austin is amazing.

DO NOT CHASE DOWN OR STOP RT STAFF.

Please don’t do this. They are on a schedule. If you see them rushing somewhere with guardians, DO NOT stop them or chase after them. I have seen this happen so many times and it is not fun.

Now, if you see them hanging around, you can politely ask them for a photo or autograph or just casually talk to them. At my first RTX, that’s how I met Caiti, Meg, and Kdin. Just be nice. The RT Staff are extremely polite and so happy to meet you all. 

LISTEN TO THE GUARDIANS.

These people are the backbone of RTX. Don’t assume that you don’t have to listen to them. Yes, they are fans just like you, but their job is make sure that YOU AND THE STAFF are safe and keep things running smoothly. 

Guardians know a lot about the convention so of course ask them questions. If not, just start a conversation. They are just as excited to be there as you. They are fans too. 

MAKE FRIENDS.

Everyone at this convention is so nice. I’ve met my closest friends here so trust me, you never know who you will meet. Break out of your shell, compliment a cosplay, pull out your Million Dollars But game!

HAVE FUN!!! YOU’RE GOING TO RTX!!!!

Who is your bias?

What made you notice them?

i don’t even remember if i’m honest. i just remember seeing a video of seventeen and thinking i had to look them up, finding seventeen project, and the next thing i know i’m watching older videos and i all i can remember is that one ‘waking up svt’ video where he’s all soft and sleepy and he pretty much already owned my heart by then so i was just like. staring all through that video.

What’s your favorite thing about them?

is everything an acceptable answer???? but i guess i had to pick something is just how he is as a person. he seems like he’s very down to earth, very aware of his impact and very open minded because of it. at the same time, he has a witty sense of humor and quick thinking skills which i really admire about him? also just how passionate he is about what he does. it’s not easy to not see your job as, well, a job, but he genuinely loves what he does and i admire that so so much.

Who would initiate skinship more?

probably me. i’m not necessarily super skinship-y, but once i’m comfortable with people i’m like the type to lean into them a lot and such so i’d probably end up doing it. would i get glared at? hopefully not heh

Who would hog blankets more?

probably me. my sister says i steal blankets a lot heh. but knowing how much he likes to sleep, he’d probably just yank them right back?

Who would be more clingy?

me. jihoon doesn’t really seem like the type to become clingy, and i’m not really either but if we’re gonna compare, i’d look like a koala in comparison to him. i think he’s just more subtle about that kind of thing.

Who would be more easily flustered?

this is a highly debatable point tbh. jihoon seems to get flustered easily and honestly i do too so that would be probably be really hilarious to anyone looking in.

What cuddling position would you two have?

just thinking about it is making me go hadkjsahdkjahswheak T-T i am weak pls spare me with these dang it. but i guess i don’t know? he doesn’t seem like the cuddling type but i think it’d be really nice to lay on his chest and maybe have him rest a hand at the top of your arm or playing with your hair while he uses the other to show you videos and stuff on his phone? wow.

What colors remind you of them and why?

soft blues, peachy pinks, black, soft browns. blue is always a soothing color to me and i just seem to associate it with him a lot. pink because of his pink hair being my favorite and he has a really pretty shade of pink lips. black because he always wears black and it suits him well. black is also a comfort color to me. soft browns because of the shade of his eyes? they’re such a pretty color and i love when they do close ups of them.

Which season would you like to spend with then?

winter? i think he’s mentioned in the past how winter is his fave season and it’s mine too so i think it would be r e a ll y nice to just. ya know. do the whole cheesy winter traditions and maybe have snowball fights and huddle together for warmth while waiting to cross the street? wow i need to go cry

Who would bake the cookies and who would steal the batter?

have you seen that boy??? he’d definitely be the batter stealer lol i would probably end up in charge of the cookies if we actually want cookies and not rough dough or some kind of poisonous mass.

Which one of you would make bad puns and how would the other react?

i love really bad puns so it’d probably be me making the bad puns and him just staring at me in disbelief but maybe hopefully really fondly???

Who would want to adopt 50 dogs and cats?

i trust lee jihoon, and so i trust he’d be down to adopt 50 dogs and cats (hopefully more dogs but)

Which one of you would nearly burn down the kitchen to try to microwave a pop tart and who would come to rescue?

he would probably be the one to nearly burn down the kitchen but then again, i’m really forgetful so i think he’d have to come be all heroic here and there too.

Who likes to lean over tall railings and who pulls them back?

i have a feeling we’d both be the type to do so but i think we’d just kind of grab on to the back of sweaters or kind of hover? i’d probably be the more vocal one about it though, like, “jihoon pls be careful”

What would watching a horror film with them be like?

I CAN’T WATCH HORROR FILMS OKAY I’M TERRIFIED so i’d probably be crying and hiding in his shoulder and the little should would probably be really amused about the whole situation

Who would be the cheesy flirt and who would be the smooth flirt?

can we add a third option here? like who’s the awkward flirt? because i think we’d both take the cake with that one. i think jihoon would be more capable of being a cheesy or smooth flirt than i would be though tbh

Who is more competitive?

probably him but if i’m in a good mood i could give him a run for his money. I WANT TO KICK HIS BUTT AT MARIO KART LETS GO LEE JIHOON.

Who would have to be given constant reminders ( remember to eat, don’t forget your keys, ect)

i think i’d be more the type to remind him he needs to take breaks and eat and that everything’s going to be okay but i have really awful goldfish memory so if he’s around he’d probably have to remind me to grab my keys or something silly.

Who sends memes and who sends cute things ‘I miss you’ texts at 3am?

i’m the most awkward human alive so i’d probably just send him a lot of memes? if i’m really sleepy and stuff i might send something cute. i feel like jihoon is the more unguarded one when he’s tired though and he seems like the night owl type (more so than i) so i think he’d probably be the one sending cute things adhjskdhask wow that must be such a wonderful way to live???? lee jihoon texting you cute things at 3am??? what a good life.
