Ruby had a pretty relaxed day. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the same for the rest. All the ladies she liked to bother were either out on field trips, or were too busy to even engage into a talk with her. So, it was no surprise she wore a smile after she texted Sally and agreed to meet. While going towards the exit she heard her boss’s voice, which she ignored “Muldrow! Muldrow! Where are you going?”
Making a short stop for some major set of common LEGOs, she had to settle for a small spaceship from the Star Wars set. Then thought that it would be good to grab another for Sally. Once her toy store stop was made, she kept going towards Sally’s place.
Parking her car at some distance, she walked along the street before making it to the young lady’s place, knocking the door once she was in front.
“C’mon, Rubes, I’m not that trashed. Betcha I can still walk in a straight line and everything,” he laughed, letting his head fall back against the soft couch cushions behind him. Romeo had spent the entirety of the day sitting in the Diablos clubhouse drinking and talking to whoever was unlucky enough to be nearby - not an uncommon practice for him, really, but he had gone harder on the booze than normal. He figured he was sober enough to acknowledge he’d drank a ton, he was sober enough for 5 in the afternoon...and for walking in straight lines.
It was one unusual wake up for Ruby, she wasn't one to stay and sleep until the next day with anyone, yet here she was, staying and sleeping with Sally, her now girlfriend. She turned to her and caressed her cheek only to stop a few seconds later, feeling... weird. The whole new feelings made her feel strange, and once she looked out of the window, up to the sky, the world was wider than last night, and she had no need to stay there any longer. Ruby restrained from kissing Sally, shaking her head, she got dressed and left, then once she was almost out of the door, she couldn't fight the next impulse.
Going back to the room, she took the LEGO figure out of the box and started to assemble it, while occasionally peeking at Sally, seeing whether she was going to wake up soon or not. She looked peaceful and so beautiful to her, she blushed.
The fuck is this?
Following the instructions one after the other, she made to finish the figure while Sally was still sleeping. Ruby walked over the bed and left the whole mini-set next to her.
Walking again to leave, she had an other though. Don't, Muldrow. That's the chees—. She didn't even finish that thought when she already was grabbing a pen and paper to leave a note to Sally.
What now, genius? A thank you note? That'd be cheap.
She stared at the figure and thought before smirking and starting to write.
I was going to write about how I won DiCaprio and Winslet on that "take me to the stars" scene because I actually have a starship and not an outdated car, but I guess it'd be better to make this disgustingly nice:
I used to dislike nights because with them, nightmares came over to sleep with me. But now, I like how the world reduces on a sole space for you and I.
Yours,
A space pilot from Naboo.
Ew, Muldrow.
Shut the hell up.
Ruby placed the note next to the figure and finally left.
Once she made it home, she took a hot shower, had breakfast and once she got dressed, then stared at her reflection on the mirror, and noticed how relaxed was her expression, it didn't look like the usual cold face without a further world in her usually static eyes. There was something else. "Hm, I know what would make this better."
Ruby texted her boss saying she was going late because of a previous appointment, which turned out to be to a beauty salon. She wondered why it never ocurred to her to come by before, they had such a good variety of scissors that made her start checking all of them out and wanting to take the best for herself.
"What are you having?"
"I need this red gone, make it blond, and…" she checked her phone for a picture "Here. I want that."
A few hours later, she made it to the station in her blond and short hair. Some stared at her, others complimented her, then was her boss who questioned her use of work time.
The first hours went as usual, long chats and nothing to do. Until suddenly, her presence was required, or more like her action. "Someone escaped from an asylum, he's now in a train, there are hostages."
Ruby looked for a young officer "Okay, junior, you like doing tons of reckless driving, you're coming with me. We're taking a train."
20 minutes later.
"Are you crazy? You can't do that!"
"Watch me"
Ruby ran at the train station without any intention of stopping and jumping inside the moving train. She looked around, a smile started to draw on her lips, "Finally, something interesting."
Metallic wires were across the cabin, with pieces of flesh on them. A few dismembered bodies were on the floor. "Amateur, that's not how you do it. Still, good craft." she sighed.
A knife went by, flying right in front of her. Ruby moved and the knife hit the wall, then walked towards it and it took breaking one wire for the others to fall along with the parts they captured.
"Are you with the police?"
"Unfortunately"
"You should run, young lady. I've killed." the man started to laugh.
"I can tell. You're crazy. You don't even know how to make it clean. So, surrender." Ruby spoke in a soft voice.
"I can kill you too! I'm usually sent to kill people like you"
"Jesus, can't you just make an adequated speech or something?"
The man was about to throw a needle when she shot his hand. "Are you crazy?" Ruby sighed in frustration. Nothing's like the old times. "No, what's going to make me crazy is how you've been using this."
"No one does this better than I"
"That's not true, you lunatic" she pulled him close, she tilted her head and grinned "Because I invented them."
Knife, needles, punches, and a gun started to deliver multiple blows at each other, with little success, only a scratch on the lady's face and no damage on the man, who thought he had the upper hand, before finding himself trapped in his own tools.
Ruby turned to the window, the train was going to crash for sure, and everyone on board was already dead. Which gave her a wonderful idea, she took her phone a dialed to her companion "Junior, you're following this train? If so, get ready."
"Of course, I am!" she heard before hanging up.
"You're not like them"
"Huh?" Ruby turned to the man, in confusion.
"You're not like them, or like me. You can't even commit to one side. Stop pretending."
She gave a long sigh before slapping his face. "This is what's going to happen. I will not deliver a final blow, I'll let the train to do it for me. You'll be yet another body not able to be recognized. That'll be the end of you, completely alone and forgotten. Bye." she said with a smile before jumping out of the train, being caught by the young officer.
A few seconds later, the train crashed.
25 minutes later.
Ruby was back at the station, having checks from the medical staff, telling the whole story, waiting for everyone to do the paperwork, and then when finally being released, the first thing she thought was on Sally...
Ruby wore her jacket, jeans, and boots before going out. Walking down the streets wherever they took, after all, others had more reasons to fear her and than she had about fearing others, at least when it came to streets...
Please, stop!
She heard a woman repeating, and once she got close to the alley noticed the man who had her against a wall. Taking a deep breath, she thanked whatever superior form for this event, so she could try and go back to her usual self, or the emotional setting she was normally used to.
Moving fast, Ruby took the man's knife and pulled him back from the lady, who ran away quickly. The criminal wasn't too swiftly on fighting unlike her, so it made it easy to strike his throat with the knife.
The man gave up instantly to the fear of bleeding out, and Ruby dragged him to the darkest side of the alley, making his back to face the wall while she sat in front.
"This is what's going to happen, you'll die in 10 minutes while you'll listen to my story, because it sucks that the only person I can talk to about issues is my psychologist, or his assistant and neither wouldn't get it, or at least one of them won't. I want to actually talk about the assistant." The man tried to blurt out something, but she took her finger to her lips, shushing him down.
"Please, don’t make me make it more painful for you.” Ruby pointed at him with the knife and he sat still “So, I fuck the assistant on a regular basis. And today we tried a few new things, I didn't like that she just gave herself too easily to me, it's not fun, you know? I crave for a little of difficulty. If I wanted an easy body, I could hit the morgue anytime." Ruby sighed "Also, call me old-fashioned but I can't handle a girl referring herself as a whore. I rather have them calling me that than defining themselves as such. A girl should have some self-respect, even in sex. And she's really pretty. But I'm afraid that she turns out like my third psychologist" she looked up to the man "I killed over 700 hundred people, but killings 313-356 were product of this person's manipulation, because you know what's the catch on psychopaths?" she took a long breath but even that couldn't avoid the tears that started to roll down. "We get very lonely, so we attach and cling to whoever wants to love us, or whoever wants to attach to us, and we’re afraid that they may leave." she looked to her side "Maybe she's aware of that and tries to provoke me during the acts, to draw the line. It sucks, because I do like her."
Looking back at the man in fear, she continued "Back to doctor number 3. You know better how justice works, she kept on living her life, and I got more people on my records, and more policemen trying to capture me. It's ironic I work for them now, it kinda does good, gives me a sense of purpose. But who to share it with?"
Noticing how the man was about to give his last breath, she got up and sat by his side "I'm here. You won't die alone. I'm kind of already dead anyway." then whispered "Surrender and sleep." and so did the man, he surrendered and slept.
