send a thing for a morning after ---> accepting

he has a habit of making questionable decisions. not that they’re always questionable, and not always in a bad way, but nonetheless, decisions have been made and he’s bound to question them. the hotel they’re at (and in which they have separate rooms) is cheap, arguably sketchy, and hardly the place for any late night decision making. nor was the fact they spent the majority of the previous day quite literally running through a jungle while people shot at them. it made for a real romantic setting. 

and yet.

they should’ve been on the road an hour ago at the latest, so there’s hardly time to actually question any questionable decisions. he throwing clothes all over the place, only stops when he tries to put on her shirt, and slows down slightly. a casual “talk on the way” with a nod that says maybe they won’t, before he’s shuffling both of them from the room. they have half a day to cross three countries.

"You are such a pain in my ass even in the best of times, you know that right? Completely insufferable." // for nate from rafe!

nate rolls his eyes before giving rafe an exaggerated smile. “and here i thought we were besties.” turning back to the map that may or may not be useful, the smile slips. rafe isn’t that sufferable either, and this whole thing is draining nate’s actually rather decent patience. “now would you stop whining and actually help with something, for once? like why don’t you go pay that wall to move and then yell at it when it doesn’t.”

it’s none of his business, which only makes him all the more curious. he glances sideways, commenting idly, “someone’s happy,” before attention returns to the vendor who’s goods he’s browsing through. hands over several coins and thanks the vendor in the limited conversational tongue he’s picked up, before turning back to the other. “anything good?”

What were bullets free back then? ( from Nadine to Nathan )

he pokes at the body with the end of his pencil -- there’s something off about it, how it (and the rest of the more-than-comfortable amount littering this one area) is riddled with bullets. a couple would’ve been overkill, but this? this is ridiculous. standing, he gives nadine a look before moving to investigate a different body, tone trying for humorous but ending up a tad closer to confused concern. “you’re the gun expert, you tell me. does this seem... normal? reasonable?”

Did they say how many are dead? Jade @ Nathan!!!

“uh —” he peers over the wall at the small army setting up a camp in the general vicinity of where he and jade need to get. he’s got a gun, naturally, but these guys are packing some serious heat; more than he and one other person can deal with. they’ll need a new plan so they don’t end up like the others that got in the way. ducking down, he turns his attention back to jade. “not an exact number no, but enough that i don’t want to be added to the pile, so let’s go before they see us.”

"you’re hurting me." [Nate.]

“what?” he blinks, hadn’t realized, amid his rambling of history and treasure and can you believe this, that he was still holding her wrist to stop her from touching something supposedly inconspicuous but actually probably a trap. maybe. immediately he lets go, surprise and apology on his features. “oh -- oh right, sorry. just..” nate makes a vague gesture in explanation. “got wrapped up in things. you good?”

“…Do we always end up on top of each other?” [Nathan.]

a laugh, slightly pained and breathless from the weight of another landing on him, though he makes no move to have her get up. just rests his head back on the ground and does something resembling a shrug best one can do laying down. “oh, you know,” nate responds airily. “no such thing as coincidence and all that.” turns his gaze to her best he can from his position. “plus i think i make a great cushion.”

“I’ve never felt more uncomfortable than I do in this store.” ( nathan )

an unhidden, almost-amused smirk as nate casually tosses a look over his shoulder at the other. “allergic to discounts?” he chuckles at his own joke before running his fingers over a few of the... ah, enthusiastically designed shirts aimed at tourists. pulling a bright pink one off the hanger he holds it up in rafe’s direction. “i don’t know, rafe, i think this is your color.” eye brows raising, he peeks at the tag before eyes lift again, barely holding a faux innocent expression on his features. “oh and what do you know. only 75% cotton.”
