A silly ficlet has led to thousands of words of a convoluted AU with this guy and an older Peesh Walker and I can't even bring myself to be sorry about it. M'Ten, the first GL we saw in GL:TAS.

DC has yet to give a name for this species and they've used them a few times! or they did name this species and I never found out the name... So, I pulled all of my Khaji-Kai doodles and then drew more with bonus M'Ten from GLTAS (that guy that got killed in the first episode). I wanted a kinda character/species sheet for these guys. 

Also, OMG Khaji-Kai in civvies!! Okay, In my head-canon this species are not as colorful as a lot of the others that we see in gltas and skin tones range from a dark caramel to a cream to an almost white. Now I've done a lot of artistic interpretation on these guys so in the comics or show they don't have dino feet; I did that 'cause I think that they look great with them! I see other artist for the comics do it a lot if you pay attention Saint Walker gets picked on a lot. Any way, I've kept most of the detail on them though: long bodies, not much muscle, oblong heads, massive sharp teeth, and very expressive large black eyes. I think of them as a very smart race that is built more for speed and endurance than brute force.  They are also a species that you can't really tell each one apart and there are only small differences between individuals. Like in my two side view sketches; at first glance they look the same but the one on the left is Khaji-Kai and the one on the right is M'Ten, Khaji is taller than M'ten and has softer features while M'ten has a shorter nose, thicker neck and a little more stocky than Khaji, M'Ten also has a darker skin tone. To us humans that's not much of a difference but to them the difference is huge. Apparently they are a long lived race. There's not an exact date but Khaji-Kai became a Scarab warrior "long, long ago" but the only hint to a time line is that Khaji's planet is in Space Sector 2 the Reach's home sector -which was probably the first sector the Reach concurred. Which would have been thousands a pun thousands of years ago in comics! long before the big fight between the Guardians and the Reach. Khaji may have even been around for that battle, he was described as the greatest Infiltrator the Reach ever created and with that kind of power comes experience. That's also the reason why I think he lived in the comics. I'll be doing a better 'species' sheet later with babies, kids, different adults, and the old. Also, while reading the comics I didn't see a 'female' of this species in there. So that means that everyone has both parts, females look the same as males, or the artist was too lazy to draw them...I dunno. On a side one that dumb thing on Khaji Kai's face is an actual thing that this species has in the comics! Gosh, don't you know how distracting that would be!? it'd be like having your phone on the side of your face at all times! they must be pros at multitasking!

This was only supposed to be a children's show! *sobs the newly recruited Fantern*
