Through the wonders of modern technology, I was beamed into this awesome SoCal classroom just before Winter Break. It was a great visit—with some really great questions.

Somehow the monsters missed this fantastic review when it first came out in 2013. My favorite line: “Raven Hill” is a place with cold-looking ravens and their expressions is (sic) like an Italian who just got his cannoli stolen.

Writing Workshop Review

Today, as I was watching M.D. Payne speak with the fourth graders at our school it was obvious that this author and his books are reaching children from a different angle.  He is helping students look at writing from a perspective that writing can, and SHOULD be fun…even with a burp or fart from time to time. 

As a reading teacher, I also noticed several things that were very apparent about M.D. Payne:

~ Wow!  Does he have a lot of energy!   And the accents…I felt like we were traveling around the world in 30 minutes or less.

~Passion.  Obviously this author enjoys his creations in the Monster Juice Series as well as the creative writing process.

~Infectious.  While the children were listening to M.D., they couldn’t help but get sucked into the writing process because of his enthusiasm! (To be honest, so did the grownups.)

Do I think you should have M.D. Payne come to your school?  For all of the above reasons, and so many more…..ABSOLUTELY!
