SONGSPIRATION
You let out a long sigh of content, as you leant back on the couch, against George's chest. Normally at this point you’d both be sipping on whisky, but George had run out in his flask and neither of you felt like going out.
He was leaning backwards, the small of his back against the arm rest of the couch and his legs sprawled out against the length of the ugly green felted piece of furniture. “This couch is rather ghastly, Georgie.”
George chuckled and murmured against your hair, “You say that every time you’re here.” when you turned yourself around so his chest was against yours while you straddled his waist you gave him a grin and he let out a sigh.
“What now, Y/N? I’m a bit too knackered out for whatever mischief you’re planning.” he scooted himself down farther so his head was on the armrest as if it were a pillow, and you were straddling his ribs.
You snickered, “Should you buy me dinner first before we get into this position?”
“You are the one who climbed on top of me.” he said laughing and patting your hip, “If you don’t like it then move somewhere else, woman!”
With a huff you removed the back cushions of the couch and laid down on your side next to him, feeling just a tad squashed against the back of the couch. “Did you have fun with Fred and Lee last night?”
“Yeah-- it was a load of fun. I miss seeing Lee so much, you know?” when you nodded he grinned at you. “They kept teasing me about you all night long.”
“Lemme guess-- because I’m oh so beautiful and you’re clearly in love with me?”
His laugh was quite booming, and you reckoned that people below could have heard it, “Exactly. I kept telling them we’re not dating, but they keep telling me friends don’t normally make out when drunk.”
You chuckled and nuzzled a bit against the side of his face, and once again felt the same rush of adrenaline that you always did when you got this close to George. But that was normal. You’d felt like this for years. It had become your normal. “Maybe they just don’t have friends as close as you and I are.”
“Mmm-- I pointed out that was what they used to do before they started to date, to try and prove my point but--”
“That’s a shit argument now that they’re dating.”
“I know I didn’t think it through.” he chuckled and looked up at you before nipping at your lower lip. “I think they just like bullying us.”
You lowered your weight more fully onto him, and ran your hands through his hair as you deepened the kiss. When you pulled away you nipped his lip in return, just a bit harder than he had done to you. “What tossers.”
“That’s my brother and his boyfriend there, love.” he reached up and brushed some hair away from your face, speaking rather playfully. You hung out with Lee and Fred so much that your friendship with them could never be under question.
You let out a hum and nuzzled into his neck, “I could have called them ‘fuckin’ tossers’.”
“You’re right. You should be rewarded for your restraint.” when you laughed against his skin he grinned quite wide. These times with you were the most wonderful he had ever felt, every time. “We would make a pretty good couple, though.”
“You letting them get to you now?” you adjusted yourself so you could see him more easily and saw that his face was a bit more serious than you thought it would be. There was a smile that formed on your lips. “We would. I think that too.”
Things were quiet for a moment, and that warmth in your stomach began to bubble up, harder to ignore.
Thankfully, George spoke first, “Have you ever thought about me like that?”
“When we first started getting close yeah-- in third year. But you didn’t seem like you liked me back so I let it go. Have you?”
“I did-- in fourth year.”
“What stopped you?”
“You were dating that Slytherin girl, love.” when you nodded at the memory George laughed a bit. “So it sounds like bad timing.”
Bad timing.
That was a really good phrase for it. Still that left the question--
“What about now?”
His eyes widened a bit, and George’s cheeks flushed. He wasn’t really an idiot-- he’d known for a while you two would be good together, but things had simply gotten so comfortable that he hadn’t wanted to change it. “What d’you mean?”
“Well-- we were talking about why we haven’t dated yet, so I’m actually talking about why you haven’t pursued your dream of breeding hippogriffs.”
“Oh well if that’s the case it’s because I’ve developed a rather fatal hippogriff allergy.” when you pinched his ear George laughed-- “Alright, I do think about it. It’s a tad frightening though, don’t you think?”
You nodded and rested your head on his chest again, “I think about it too.” he rubbed circles on your back, while you listened to his breathing.
His heart was beating rather quickly.
“I’m surprised that you’re scared of things actually-- Mr. Gryffindor.”
George shrugged beneath you, “I’m scared of loads of things. I just like to fight through it.”
“Fight through it, huh?”
“Yeah.”
“Every time?”
“Yeah.”
Once more you brought yourself up to look down at him, square in the eye. “You fancy goin’ out on a date with me then, George Weasley?”
There was one more laugh before he pulled you down and pressed another kiss to your lips-- one much more passionate than you’d gotten from him before. You grinned as you felt him nip rather hard on your lip and slip his tongue into your mouth. As he sat up you once again straddled his hips and pressed your chest into his as your hands went through his hair.
When you finally pulled apart from him both of your lips were bruised and his hair was messed to hell while his hands slipped up your shirt. Very poorly you stifled a whine, “You didn’t answer my question yet, prat.”
“That’s a terrible name to call your boyfriend, Y/N.”
“Well if my boyfriend doesn’t pick me up and toss me into his bed then I’m going to call him a lot worse name’s than that.”
Very quickly, and with some manuevering you would later try to figure out and fail how to, George managed to stand up off of the couch, and walk with your legs around his waist-- carrying you to his room. He nudged open the door with his foot, both of his hands cupping your ass to support you. Very gently, he let you go on top of his bed, and you laughed as you spread out on the comforter.
“So what’re you going to call me now?”
“‘m not going to call out anything unless you get down here, Weasley.”
He let out a loud laugh again as he quickly removed his sweater, “I knew there was a reason I liked you.”
