Alright, I give in.

I am officially adding Killian Jones aka Captain Hook to my muse list.

Mind you, he's going to be canon divergent when it comes to his characterisation and, as a result, some of his actions, especially post s2.

He's also going to have a proper redemption arc.

I am also ready to try writing Captain Swan with Emmas, now that I realized that the things that's been bothering me can actually be fixed (I keep forgetting that we are allowed to be as canon divergent as we'd like to and change things about our muses... silly me 😅).

When it comes to Killians, I will be pretty selective about writing romantic relationships between them and my Emma, at least for the time being. Nothing personal, we can still do other dynamics, it's just that I cannot promise to be open to romantic relationship between my Emma and every Killian there is because there are some canon things that bother me.

Open Starter || Hook 

“The sky is awake, the ice cracks and sways as shattered glass, and, even as we speak, the tropical birds can be heard chirping and flying back to their nests. This can only mean one thing- as you’re new here, I trust you won’t know what that is. Pan is back. Or something very nearly like him. The time has come for Hook to awaken and resume the hunt.” 

After a sip of wine, “Have you taken care of the beast yet? I’d so hate for you to return without proof of your efforts; the head, as agreed, so that I may mount it on my wall. I advise you present it with a quickness, or it may be yours that takes the place of the beast’s.”

James hadn’t been a stranger to literature; quite the contrary, in fact. Most of his downtime in the evenings had consisted of reading, when he wasn’t reading maps and writing their course of action. However, in this small little town, he had never bothered step into the library. Vaguely enough, he could recall it’s location- but the short visits he spent home, he had found more comfort in a tavern than a place full of studios minds. 

When he arrived, he had severely debated waltzing inside. Thankfully enough, the faithful blonde had been awaiting him outside. In the black pick up truck, James had rolled a window down and gave her a flirtatious smile. “Get in, blondie.”

;;was thinking the other day about how before he became a pirate Captain my Hook had been a young aspiring actor (actually a Naval officer immediately before piracy but that’s neither here nor there) and still very much incorporates a great deal of ‘acting’ in his persona and I had a philosophical crisis moment where I was like SO HOW MUCH OF HIM IS REAL?? IS HE PRETENDING WITH EVERYTHING??

But then I thought...well, yeah, but it’s not like some scheme he’s in on, really. He’s as convinced of the ‘Hook’ persona as anyone else is. He doesn’t go back to his stateroom and take off a wig and become a super nice guy with a million kittens (I could see him having a sassy/mean cat tho...theoretically). ‘Hook’ isn’t his real name, for one, which is the first indication of a possible facade. Over the years he’s become very bitter and angry and selfish and uses his charm solely to exploit situations and people. 

But, the truth is, that isn’t all there is to him. There is sentimental, romantic soul in there deep down, but alas, I haven’t had much chance to explore it bc it would involve a lot of writing and character development and RP these days is kind of here and there and fleeting in most situations, so.

“Decidedly,” Hook agreed, an air of suspicion about him even as he was smug. “Alas, I’ve heard a great deal of compliments in my time, and not all of them have meant the difference between my mercy and my wrath. However, I do love hearing what I already know to be true. Pray, tell- what else do you find irresistible about me?”

“Now, now, don’t blub. It’s very unbecoming.” 

Hook paced impatiently as his captive was tied and restrained to the mast. These proceedures wouldn’t take so long if they didn’t writhe so much! If they would just stay put and speak, like a civilized human being, there would be no need for restraints at all and they could speak as genteel people do.

“Now that we can be confident you won’t make any foolish escape attempts, let’s have a talk. Tea?” He took a sip of his own porcelain cup of Earl Grey. “No, I would think not. That’s the trouble of having your arms tied, dear heart.”

“Must we really muddle through this again? I don’t know what you expect to accomplish with this ridiculous, futile back-and-forth. If I did, indeed, leave you to die, as you claim," -an emphasis here on the accusation as if to highlight the decided ridiculousness of it- "I'm sure I had a very good reason. You've always been a bit slow on your feet, after all- what was I to do, leave the both of us, the crew and the Roger herself to be similarly chewed up? Doesn't seem very efficient. Or practical."

He returned to cutting his fish with a pronounced sigh.

"In any case, you obviously survived. All's well that ends well, yes? I fail to see the point of spoiling dinner over a small offense."

“I find it very inconvenient, sir- that is how I find it.” 

This man seemed intent to debate the moralities and technical specifics of ownership and theft and Hook had neither the time, nor patience. He supposed it was his own error in bringing about the argument of ‘rightfully’ having done anything (which, in reference to himself, was forever doomed to be false) but only to that point was he willing to humor this charade. 

“Perhaps you are not yet familiar, but I am a pirate Captain, by trade. I take whatever catches my eye and I don’t, and will never, concern myself with any sense of ownership that came before me. Now, all that said...” 

He pushes the small trinket back across the divide between them. 

“I have entire hordes of treasure at my fingertips. This...bauble would’ve been but one of many and not of any particular consequence. I can’t say I would’ve gone to the lengths that you have to restore it, but one man’s treasure, and all that. If it is so dear to you then, by all means, take it.”
