[ARTICLE] ['Guy-Friend' Interview: I came to see you~(2)] Park Kyung, "Zico, someone who leads me to music, an existence that I'm thankful for"
-Continuing from the 1st part-
KwonReporter: Is doing music something you dreamed of since little?
Park Kyung: No. I used to like Math.
KwonReporter: As expected, Math Genius!
Park Kyung: The Math lesson in class when I studied abroad in the US was so easy that I lost fun doing it. I ca’t speak english well either and I have nothing to do at home after class. At that time I saw a rap video that Zico uploaded on his minihompy(cyworld). Seeing that I thought, “How cool, I want to try that too“, and so I started music.
Kwon Reporter: Seems like you originally have some talent in music.
Park Kyung: I used to learn the piano, and I know how to play several music instruments. I als participated the church choir. My Mom was a piano teacher. My brother majored in flute. Seems like my family are familiar with music to begin. Math and composing is closely related in away. I compose by humming the melody.
JungReporter: Ohho. So that's how it starts but what brings you to become a singer?
Park Kyung: When I was studying abroad for 3 years, I always think'I hope I'm in Korea when I opened my eyes' before sleeping. I miss my friends in Korea. The place where I homestayed raise a cat, it was hard for me since I have an allergy to cat furs. The food there doesn't fit my palate too.
JungReporter: Really? It must be really tough.
Park Kyung: Yeah. So then I end up eating less and less, my pocket money was not much either so I endure all day by eating one piece of pie. But then again what should I say, studying abroad is my own decision, I dig my own grave. It was really a hard time. At that time, the thing that helps me hold on was music.
KwonReporter: And by that you started music and became a singer now. Do you feel proud on yourself whenever you look back on that path you take?
Park Kyung: The plans I made in my early twenties went well. Though I wasn't originally trained to become an idol, but there's lots of happiness that came by from becoming one. Although I also have the desire to release a solo when I see Zico, but that time was a waiting time for the group's sake. I thought that the team should do well first, and thankfully our team did well, and now I'm able to release a solo song as a result.
JungReporter: Seems like group and solo activities is really different.
Park Kyung: I was really nervous and trembling when I released 'Ordinary Love'. However there's less burden this time. Through 'Ordinary Love', I was assured that 'There's actually many of people who likes my music than what I expected, and there's also lots of fans that loves me'
KwonReporter: Then what is the future plan that soloist Park Kyung dreams of.
Park Kyung: Releasing several singles, a mini album then doing a couple concert in a small theater. Having a concert with about 500 guests where I share stories with them.
JungReporter: That's a good idea. But if you spent your youth only doing music, instead of a musician, as a person, won't there be some sad points.
Park Kyung: Recently P.O said this to me. I was whining about the tight schedule saying, 'Preparing a concert is already this hard'. Hearing that P.O said, 'Hyung, your 20s won't come back again. We need to work hard on our jobs but we also need to drink crazily also having vacations, you must do something'. It was a word from a dongsaeng but it's really mature.
KwonReporter: Did you feel any awaken after hearing his words?
Park Kyung; 'I need to create a memory' is what I thought. I weren't able to think it in detail yet but first of all I want to ask a 7 months vacation to the company. I want to go on a vacation with my friends to Phuket.
KwonReporter: Let's go back to your teen days. How was your school days? Did you like doing group activities?
Park Kyung: Yep. I was the class president also soccer team's captain. I like leading people.
JungReporter: Soccer team? So you like sports?
Park Kyung: I like it when I was little. I was tall back then. My height now is the height of 2nd year of middle schooler. I stopped doing sports the time when I finally accept that I have a small frame.
KwonReporter: Do you not do any (physical)activities now?
Park Kyung: Yep, not at all. Rather than having a hobby(that requires physical activities), I prefer to write songs in the studio while drinking alcohol.
JungReporter: Seems that you like to drink? How is your drinking capacity.
Park Kyung: I drink everyday if there's no schedule. I always buy beer when going to the studio and drink while working. My capacity is usually one and half a bottle of soju, if I'm in a good condition I can take up to two bottles. If there's no special thing happening tomorrow then it really differs.
KwonReporter: Do you have any special thing you do when you got drunk?
Park Kyung: Alcohol gives me energy to speak out the words I can't say normally, I tend to honestly tell what's been kept inside. I don't really have any enemies but I tend to keep things inside, I can't sleep when I'm not at ease.
JungReporter: That kind of personality will make yourself tired. Have you ever think that you need to change your personality?
Park Kyung: I think personality can't be changed easily. Even whith the members, when I thought the other side is the one at wrong, I get stressed when they don't apologize first. But it's just the typical of people with B blood type, I will forgive even when they only apologize only later. I don't hold on grudges.
KwonReporter: Among the members, you're close friends with Zico since small right. I wonder what kind of an existence Zico is to Park Kyung.
Park Kyung: He's a friend that I'm thankful ofcourse. He made me come back to Korea, also leads me to become a singer. I want to have a serious talk with him sooner or later. These days we only met for work matters only(laugh)
JungReporter: Ah there's something we cant miss if we're talking about Park Kyung, that's 'Smart-Cutie'.
Park Kyung: If anyone around me asked about it I say it's an image made for broadcast, but I'm happy when you call me Sexy-Brain-Man(Male who is sexy for being smart). I gain a lot of things thanks to the image. Should I say that I suddenly got a good fortune? 'Problematic Men' is a fortune program for me. My Mom is especially happy with it. You know it's a pride and joy between mothers to have raised a smart child. She's also really happy when I become the ambassador for Red Cross Youth this time too.
JungReporter: To think about it, you've never revealed your IQ
Park Kyung: I never took an IQ test. I'm also curious about my IQ
KwonReporter: Do you want to try another program other than 'Problematic Men'?
Park Kyung: I want to appear on programs like 'Radio Star' or 'Happy Together'. I cant do things that relies on my body so talk shows suits me more.
JungReporter: Are you the type whose good at variety shows?
Park Kyung: I'm not the type who cant go along with the atmosphere. I think I'm quick witted and full of sense(witty).
KwonReporter: These days 'Acting-dol' is the trend. Do you have any interest to try on acting?
Park Kyung: Not at all. I need to act sad when singing a sad song even when I feel good, right. I think I'm acting all the time for a living so why should I want to, I don't want to act.
KwonReporter: So you act on the stage. You must feel really dispirited once you're off the stage after the performance is over then.
Park Kyung: That's right. I think I become yearning for alcohol because of that. Alcohol has become my friend.
Park Kyung: I really hate the term 'fan-service'. The word service gave a sense that you're providing something to get money, right. I think that kind of mindset is inconsiderate towards those who loves me. Even when I thought, 'Why do they love me', I always feel thankful. The one that made me become an existence whos able to reveice love is no other than the fans themselves.
JungReporter: Oh~ How touching. I hope the fans alo knows those heart of yours.
KwonReporter: Yeah. It was fun today today. Let's meet again once you released your third single.
Park Kyung: Yep, definitely. I'll also wait for my third child. Bye~
