bringing mingyu with you to the mall may have added hours to the trip, but the only thing that mattered was his smile every time you came out of the dressing room in an outfit he picked out. even if he just threw together things he knew didn’t match.
pairing: mingyu/reader | thriller
content: no warnings in this drabble, but in the continued fic there will be some posted!
quillstarters halloween challenge day 6: a familiar voice, with a hoarse timbre, whispered from behind him/her, "miss me?" shivers erupted all over his/her body, a spike of adrenaline punching their gut. as they slowly turned around, dread was already filling their stomach. “it’s you.”

“hello?”
static from your phone again.
you sighed, “another prank call?”
ever since you had moved into this house, bad luck seemed to strike you in any way. be it dropping ceramic plates, losing your hair ties, or flickering lights, it seemed like some kind of curse was following you around all the time.
you scrambled on top of your bed, sighing in relief as your body hit the softness of the blankets. it seemed like a new habit for you to immediately pass out in bed after a day of school and work.
oh, of course.
the dizzy spells and fatigue.
it was an onslaught of symptoms neither you nor your doctor could identify.
“maybe you should go see a shaman or something,” your friends had joked.
“maybe i should go see a shaman,” you murmured, echoing your thoughts. turning over onto your side, your arms felt flimsy and weak from the day and you didn’t feel all that motivated to move.
your phone started to ring.
you groaned while reaching over to pick up your phone. “hello?” you sleepily asked.
static once more.
you sighed in frustration, fingers reaching up to pinch at the bridge of your nose. you huffed, “i’m seriously getting sick of all these calls-”
“y/n? is that you?”
a voice broke through the ambient static.
your hand froze. your brain froze. every part of your body was frozen like shock had slapped you senseless.
your fingers shook as you once again raised the device to your ear.
“who is this?” you stammered, panicking. “who are you?”
“huh?” it was a male voice and it sounded familiar. like a phantom in the back of your mind. “you don’t remember me? oh, that’s too bad...
i’m your best friend from 4 years ago, dummy! kim mingyu!”
you immediately hung up.
mingyu thinks wine is infinitely sweeter and better when he tastes it from your lips.
his body presses back onto the couch as his mouth runs on yours. his warm hand is perched on the back of your neck as he pulls you closer, leaving no room to breathe. his other hand runs small circles on your waist right where the hem of your tanktop ends. the way he hungrily locks lips with you sends a chill down your spine.
his fingers threaten to thread further up into your hair. a whine manages to escape his lips when he finds the butterfly clip holding your messy bun still in place (you’d put your hair up because you know it drives mingyu crazy and you’re not about to go to bed tonight, on valentine’s day for god’s sake, without atleast two orgasms.)
a deep groan from him escapes once more before he finally separates from you. you’re gasping for air, shoulders heaving as you breathe in and out rhythmically. mingyu’s hand falls to your waist, still keeping you close and perched on his lap. his sweatpants do nothing to ease the tension pooling between your legs, and you feel a familiar tent right under your thigh from where you’re straddling him.
“why’d you stop?” you manage to heave out, air rushing back into your lungs. kissing mingyu is always exhilirating and sends the best rush your body can ever experience, and it never gets old.
mingyu doesn’t reply, just reaches a hand up to the tortoiseshell butterfly clip perched on the crown of your hair, pushing the accessory open and pulling it away from your hair, letting your locks cascade down. he flings it somewhere and you hear it clatter on the coffee table behind you.
“you drive me crazy when i can see your neck, baby, you know that,” mingyu’s fingers finally make their way up and up, finally finding purchase somewhere tangled up in your locks and mussing it all over. he pulls you in closer again, his lips barely an inch away from touching yours, “makes me want to leave marks all over, bet you want that too, right?”
his kiss-swollen lips glint under the dim light, and you can’t resist but to leave a light peck. your palms float down to his chest, so close to each other you can count his eyelashes. his grip on your waist tightens, itching to just rip your clothes off that act as a barrier. “so why don’t you?”
[17:06] flashing cameras, crew members adjusting lights, photographers checking previews. everything bustling around you does nothing to distract from the faint, stagnant lull of your heart as you gaze at your boyfriend. surrounded by minimal props, he still manages to glow during the photoshoot, his poses looking natural amongst a precariously composed setting. catching your eye and winking with a grin, mingyu reminds you once again why you're so dazed by him.
