Chunter of Chunter fame is literally such an enigma, I need to study him. He's so fascinating. Despite how horrible he is, I find myself still relating to him on some level and being a latent Chunter kinnie. Such is the nature of Chunting on, I suppose.
Two things, though:
When I say he got done dirty by the fans, I mean in the sense of "In addition to the myriad of other things he's done that people (rightfully) make fun of him for, I think him actively and knowingly leading on his mentally ill ex into thinking he was interested in getting back together with and fucking him when he had no interest in the slightest outside of said ex's route should also be something that people make fun of him for." Nowhere near enough people make fun of him for this despite how fucking deranged this reveal is.
When I say he works better as part of a dynamic, I mean in the sense of "I think he works better as a duo with either each of the romanceable characters as a duo or the gang collectively, as that's where I feel it best shows his many different attributes."
Okay, so, I technically have three Chrysos Heirs, but Ariadne doesn’t become a Demigod or anything and her lore is actually kinda weird and complex and it makes me embarrassed to explain it bc I don’t think her story actually works with the lore for Amphoreus, so just ignore her for the moment… However! The other two are named Dolomedes and Anastasius and they DO become Demigods bc I made up Titans for them and they are my beloveds :]
Febris, the Fog of Plague, was the Titan of Pestilence (representing the Propagation). Throughout most of Amphoreus, Febris was feared and disdained. The Fog of Plague often wrought havoc, leaving nothing but sickness and suffering in their wake. They were viewed as a symbol of a long drawn out death whenever their swarms of locusts, rats, and other pests would descend upon a city-state.
Nonetheless, they gained a small cult following, though many of their followers were persecuted when worship was discovered. They did not have a large fancy temple or a Holy Maiden to honor them. All Febris had was a hidden web of lost souls trailing behind them like shambling living corpses.
By the time Dolomedes is born, Febris has already been slain, but none had been found to inherit the Coreflame.
One day, long before she took Cipher in, Aglaea was on her daily commute from home to her dress shop when she heard a noise. It sounded like crying. Going to investigate, Aglaea was surprised to find an infant left behind and wailing. Two things surprised her about this young boy: 1) he bleeds golden blood from small scratches covering his tiny body and 2) from the waist down, he has the body of a spider. A clear “blessing” from Febris.
Aglaea tried to find the boy’s parents within Ohkema, but the searches turned up empty every time. She decided to keep the child, naming him Dolomedes.
Dolomedes grows up under Aglaea’s care and, when he is old enough, he is sent to the Grove of Epiphany like all Chrysos Heirs. There, he meets a younger Anaxa and they immediately hate each other, having completely conflicting views on the prophecy and the Flame-Chase Journey (they still hate-fuck tho).
When Dolomedes is old enough to graduate, he decides to stay at the Grove and he becomes a scholar helping to research ways to ward off the black tide as much as possible. It is during this research that he learns about the curses that Febris was known for, finally learning that his own condition was caused by the long dead Titan.
It was at this point that Dolomedes confronts Aglaea about hiding this fact from him. In response, Aglaea takes him to the Vortex of Genesis, explaining that she had been waiting until he had become of age before she told him. That day, she also tells him that she believes he would make the best candidate to take up the Coreflame of Pestilence.
Dolomedes, though still hurt that his past was kept secret, accepts the challenge and takes on the trial needed for him to become a Demigod.
He succeeds, earning himself the title as the new Fog of Plague. His prophecy? “Your end shall meet you while hanging from a web.”
Aside from Dolomedes and Cipher, Aglaea also has two more wards that she took it: my third OC, Ariadne, and my brother’s OC, Helionis (belonging to @oliver2twist). This is important because when Helionis, Aglaea, and Cipher all die, it leaves Dolomedes devastated. He, unfortunately, kills himself, hanging himself from a rope made of his own spidersilk.
(And fun fact: Dolomedes is actually an expy of Vihaan, one of my Genshin OCs :3)
Asklepios, the Grace of Serenity, was the Titan of Peace (representing the Abundance). She was an extremely popular Titan, being known as a healer and— most obviously— a peacekeeper, so she was worshipped across almost all of Amphoreus, even more so as the world began to hurtle towards it end.
When Strife went mad, Peace was nowhere to be found. All prayers to Asklepios went unheard. The world and its inhabitants wailed in anguish and even that went unanswered.
Anastasius was born a Kremnoan and he fully embraced the ideals of a Kremnoan warrior. However, he got bored of organized warfare and left the city to become a mercenary, selling his blade to refugee parties wandering this dying world and settlements beset by monster and bandits. It was during this nomadic time in his life he discovered a strange abandoned temple and, out of bored curiosity, he decided to explore it.
Inside, he discovered a severely weakened Titan: Asklepios.
Asklepios knows her time is over, that it’s time for the world to move onto its next generation. She hadn’t seen a mortal in a VERY long time and, sensing that this was her last opportunity, she entrusts Anastasius with her Coreflame. Not the Chrysos Heirs. Not the Flame-Chase Journey. Just Anastasius. She can see he has a good heart despite his battle lust and, honoring her wish, Anastasius accepted it, unceremoniously becoming the new Titan of Peace.
After this interaction, Anastasius returns to his home, needing the stability to adjust to this immense change in his life. He’s no healer. He’s not just going to sit on the sidelines and patch everyone up while they deal with the enemies. He will not.
When Mydei returned to Castrum-Kremnos and killed his father, Anastasius followed the estranged prince to Ohkema. During the journey, Mydei and Anastasius hit it off, slowly getting to know each other and even continuing the tentative friendship once they finally reached the holy city.
He tries to settle into life in Ohkema, even joining the city guard to keep himself busy, but Anastasius gets restless very easily. He can’t stay in one place for long, not without picking a fight at least. Mydei learns about this and makes an offer: “fight me when you get restless, so you don’t have to hold back and you can get all the energy out.” Unintimidated by Mydei’s royal title, Anastasius accepts and it becomes a very normal sight to see the two going all out against each other on the outskirts of the city.
Whereas Mydei cannot STAY dead, Anastasius cannot die AT ALL. That’s why they’re both able to push their limits with each other.
Feelings bloom between the pair through these sparring matches and they end up married, but it really doesn’t change anything in their public dynamic together. If you didn’t know them and you saw them out and about, you would assume they were a soldier and his commanding officer. Nothing more.
Things are good until Mydei finally accepts his duty and ascends to divinity. Peace and Strife cannot exist in the same place at the same time. Anastasius cannot follow his husband back to Castrum-Kremnos. He must stay behind in Ohkema, to ensure that peace continues to blanket the city from the black tide.
I haven’t made a prophecy for Anastasius yet, so I can’t go into full depth with his story :[
