have some dumb sweet mabsolem woo
To Mally it felt like an absolute gift from the gods that he was given a day off. Although it had already been a month, Mally had yet to properly get used to this new sleep schedule that had to involve him going to sleep fairly early so he could actually wake up on time. But today he didn’t have to costume up to play sea shanties, he was able to sleep in well past noon, and now he was going to enjoy the sunny pretty day.
But the enjoyable part was that although he had the day off, it didn’t mean everyone else did. As far as he was aware, the only other person with a day off today was Nivens, who was already in deep conversation with that program from ElecTRONica through skype. So now Mally thought this was a lovely time to go bother a certain caterpillar who was going to be playing ragtime piano on Mainstreet.
The park was crowded and fairly noisy, though that was completely normal at this point. As he approached the familiar coke corner, he heard the sounds of piano already penetrating the sounds of loud conversation around him, and as Mally entered the area he had to stifle a giggle at the sight of a blue bowler hat. Absolem had dyed his light blue hair a dark brown color, but his blue roots were already starting to show. To avoid dyeing his hair again, he’s just started wearing a bowler hat to hide it. Mally was just glad his hair was passable enough to let him keep it like it was. He hadn’t even bothered styling it that day, his hair was hanging down on his face (save for that one particular little curl).
Absolem hadn’t noticed him yet, his eyes focused more on his keys as he started playing a song from a certain movie that may or may not have replaced their own show. Mally made a face at that, as he leaned over the piano closer to Absolem.
“Can’t you play something from the Aristocats?” He asked.
If Absolem was surprised to see him, it didn’t show. He didn’t miss a single note as he glanced over at Mally. “You hate cats.”
“The Aristocats are okay, they’re not Chessur at least.”
Absolem rolled his eyes as the song he was playing slowly became ‘Everybody wants to be a Cat’, causing Mally to grin widely. “This is much better!”
“Shouldn’t you be working?”
“Day off, aren’t I lucky?”
They both fell silent as Absolem continued to play the piano for the guests hanging around him. Mally still stood next to him, leaning against the piano and watching his fingers dance across the keys. It was a stark contrast to the more modern music or downright weird stuff that Absolem plays when he’s back at home, but Mally liked it. Absolem would occasionally glance over at him, checking to see if Mally was still watching him play. He was perhaps a bit quieter than expected. (because really, anyone would expect Mally to be talking about a mile a minute trying to request songs)
Absolem wasn’t sure how much time had passed by, but he glanced up and realized that Mally was no where to be seen. He had suddenly slipped away without Absolem even noticing. Maybe Mally actually could be ‘quiet as a mouse’ when he wanted to be. His shift was over anyways, so he was able to go backstage and change out of his costume and into more comfortable clothing. He sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair. It looked weird with the distinct blue roots peaking through the brown. He placed a hat on his head before he left, checking his phone to see a text from Mally.
Waiting for you by the front gates~
Yeah, yeah was his response.
He reentered the park, looking around to see if he could find the familiar mop of messy blond hair, and he jumped when he felt the hat disappear from his head suddenly.
“Really? A snapback? And you’re wearing a baggy hoodie too. Oh my god.” There he was.
“Mally give that back.” Absolem held his hand out.
“Where did you even get this?”
“Chessur let me borrow it.” Absolem replied, snatching the hat back from Mally and putting it back on his head.
“Honestly you should just give up and let Tarrant redye your hair. He’s been itching to do something.”
Absolem pouted. “I hate dyeing my hair.”
Mally laughed. “And Tarrant hates having his hair short, neither of you win. Don’t worry, come May and you’ll have your normal hair back in no time.”
Mally had to jump slightly to press a kiss to his cheek, before grinning devilishly. “You do realise you’ll have to take off your hat for some rides though, right? Chessur will kill you if you lose his hat.”
Mally grabbed his hand and started dragging him down Mainstreet. “Let’s go on Splash Mountain!”
“Everyone will see your blue-brown hair!”
Absolem grabbed Mally around the waist and picked him up darrying him back from where they came from.
“H-Hey, no fair!” Mally squirmed in his grip.
“I am not taking off my hat.”
