ALSO, can we hear more about your oc, Mac? Either Eltingville or gzeltingville! I like how he’s a nerd about movies and cinema, rarely do I see ocs that are like that. And then in genz, he’s an otaku, very funny lol

MAC MY BELOVED!!! I really don’t talk about them enough.

Mac in OG GZ works at a movie theater but is super snobbish about the films there, often criticizing out loud or in their head all the popular films that people are going to see and he gets severely underpaid. However, she still works there because it gives them access to exclusive merch that they steal and free movie tickets from time to time!! I used to have Mac be an otaku in OG as well but I felt like he didn’t really fit into the time period that much, or at least in a way that I liked.

She’s the type of guy to defend people being malnourished to achieve a perfect film, to the point where directors should suffer to create great art. However, in epilogue they themselves work on films, and have gained a newfound appreciation for all forms of the medium. I think OG Epilogue Mac would have chilled out a lot from her teenage years, and would be someone to have actually pursued their nerdy passions with a realization of how his behavior was incredibly toxic as a kid. It’s very important to me that Mac was not a good person…

GZ Mac on the other hand is genuinely one of my favorite characters ever. He is probably one of the worst otakus you will ever meet, despite her absolute insistence that she’s not an otaku. I know GZ Mac as a kid got into RTCA and subliminals to become Japanese, and even though they no longer believe they work, there’s still a part of Mac that wishes that he was Japanese. He’d probably fall for those “place, Japan” TikTok’s and get enraged when she finds out it’s actually just some random place in Missouri.

Mac isn’t really good with expressing emotions, and as a kid he’s very hateful. They tend to focus on the negatives rather than the positives, kinda like those people who are like “you like pancakes? So you hate waffles.” She mellows out with age though, and becomes a lot happier. GZ Mac is unfortunately clinically depressed, and has fantasies of becoming a hikikomori, and the only thing preventing them from doing so is the absurd about they’re spending on tuition.

I’d say Mac moreso doesn’t have things to smile about rather than choosing to rarely smile.
