“Mac” MacGyver is an easygoing but brilliantly resourceful undercover agent for the Phoenix Foundation in LA, concocting makeshift solutions to deadly situations using only his scientific knowledge, everyday items, and common sense.

Nikki Carpenter is a hard-nosed, by-the-books Phoenix Foundation agent who has suffered a troubled past and makes up for it by catching every criminal she goes after.

Mac and Nikki meet by chance while working on the same job, kissing as a distraction and introducing themselves afterward. They soon begin working together for the Phoenix Foundation, but their relationship is anything but amicable. Clashing over their vastly different approaches and personalities, Mac and Nikki beg not to be assigned on the same cases, but their unique dynamic makes them unstoppable when they work together. Over time, Mac and Nikki begin to care for one another in a special way, though they never lose their fighting spark that makes them so irresistible.

I've never had a moment's doubt. I love you. I believe in you completely. You are my dearest one. My reason for life.

“What’s wrong?”

You had been dating Mac for a few months and it had been wonderful. You had meet after helping the team on a case and because of your great work, Matty had asked you to join the team and you couldn’t have been more grateful for the opportunity. You had decided to take your relationship slow with Mac because of both of your previous relationship histories. But lately, he had been drifting away and you didn’t know what you had done for that to happen.

You exhaled, “I don’t know. I care about Mac but lately, I just feel like he’s pulling away from me. We don’t talk anymore and I’m worried that he’s going to break up with me.” The last thing you wanted was to lose Mac. He meant so much to you and you hated that recently you felt like a stranger to him.

Bozer placed a hand on your shoulder before standing up, “You should talk to him.”

“I wish it was that simple.” You sighed before Bozer walked back into the house. You continued to sit outside watching the sunset alone before you heard footsteps get closer and the figure sat down next to you.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

You couldn’t help the scoff that passed your lips as you brought your knees up to your chest, “I should be asking you that considering you’ve been avoiding me for the past few days and don’t bother denying it, you know you have.”

Mac sighed, “I don’t know what you want me to say.”

“Seriously? I want you to be honest with me. I want you to talk to me. If you don’t want to be with me, tell me. I can’t keep doing this with you. I care about you so much but lately; I feel like I’m the only one that wants to be in this relationship.” You cried.

Mac’s eyes widened before really looking at you. It was finally dawning on him that he had really hurt you. That putting distance between you both was only doing damage. He cared about you but was scared that you would walk away from him like Nikki had.

“I’m sorry.” He finally spoke.

You shook your head before standing up, “I don’t want an apology, I want an explanation. I deserve at least that.” When he didn’t reply, you scoffed before turning around to walk away but his hand grabbed yours.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know how to do this without getting hurt. Every relationship I have been  in, I’ve been hurt. I’m scared that I’ll get hurt again. The last thing I wanted was to hurt you because I care about you but I had to protect myself and I know that’s not an excuse for not communicating with but I didn’t know what else to do.” Mac spoke sadly.

You held his hand firmly in yours before sitting back down next to him, “Any relationship is scary. It’s okay to be scared, hell I am too but we can’t keep running from something that could potentially be the best thing that has ever happened to you. I care about Mac, so much and the las thing I want to do I walk away but you can’t keep pushing me away. I want to be with you, isn’t that enough?”

“It is, believe me it is and you’re right. I need to tell you how I’m feeling or what’s going on with me because the last thing I want is for you to leave me. I want this, I want us.” He promised. He knew he had hurt you and he had a lot to make up for but the first step to a healthy relationship was to be honest with you, no matter how it would be.

You nodded your head, “Good because I want this too. I like being with you, you make me happy. How about we take it slowly and see where it takes us?”

“Slowly?”

“If it makes you comfortable, then that’s what we’ll do.”

33. “Make that sound again.”

“What are you doing?” You asked your boyfriend as you found him pretty much running around the house looking for something.

He had been gone for the week on a mission that you stayed behind on due to your injury but that didn’t mean you didn’t talk. One of the things you loved about him was that you were able to bring him out of his shell and he could turn you on in ways you didn’t expect.

He suddenly came to a stop, “Why are you wearing my shirt? I have been looking everywhere for it.” He wasn’t going to deny the fact that you looked absolutely ravishing in his shirt.

You smirked, “All you had to do was ask.”

“Is that so? I could always take it off of you.” He glared at you playfully before stalking closer to you.

You placed your hands on his chest, “It is so why don’t you?” You loved challenging him. It always turned you both on.

Mac quickly dove for your neck, placing kisses as he went along before sucking a bruise just under you ear, making you moan out breathlessly. He loved how quickly he could make you putty i his hands.

“Make that sound again.” He groaned.

“Make me.”

13. “Fuck you.” “Is that an insult or a to do list?”

“I hate you.” You groaned.

Mac rolled his eyes, “You’re being over dramatic.”

“Over dramatic? We have spent the day been chased by bad guys, jumped off a roof which by the way sprained my ankle, I was grazed by a bullet and you destroyed our phones. Why do you never listen to me?” You whined.

Mac laughed, “Like I said, over dramatic.”

“Fuck you.” You spat.

He smirked, “Is that an insult or a to do list?”

“Unbelievable. You are so annoying. I know you’re a genius but I would appreciate it if you listened to me sometimes. I love you and the last thing I want is for you to get hurt.” You sighed.

He walked over to you, holding you close, “I’m sorry. I know I can be all over the place and I might know what I’m doing but I love you too and the last thing I want is for you to get hurt. I know you can protect yourself but I worry, all the time. I’m sorry if you felt like I wasn’t listening to you, I do appreciate your input and you always get us out of situations.I’m sorry.”

You shook your head, “I’m not mad, I know you’re all over the place because of that brain of yours. I just worry that one day you’re not going to come home and I don’t know how to deal with that.”

“I’m here and I’m not going anywhere. I love you.”

“You’re lucky I love you too genius.”

“I love you and nothing is going to change that. What I had with Nikki is over. No one is ever going to come above you. You are my everything and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Mac promised.

You sighed, “I know, I know. I just don’t like the way she looks at you.”

“I know but the only person I want to look at is you, always.”
