I just found your blog and it's everything! *-* you've probably gotten this question before (in that case sorry) but do you have an ao3 account or somewhere else where you store your writing? I feel the need to read more of your stuff!
I do have an Ao3 account! I usually keep my longer/multi-chapter stuff there. My more polished pieces and what not. If a prompt series gets a lot of love/gets long, it sometimes migrates to Ao3 to be written on my own time c:my Ao3 and tumblr here offer different stuff, just to keep things fresh/not double post too much! The link to my account can be found HERE
For all my fics here on tumblr, I keep them under the tag of Overwatch fanfiction OR for all the fanfiction and writing from other fandoms, Shipping Snacks for Hungry Shippers you search that on my blog, should find all the stuff I’ve written c:
There is ALSO a NSFW prompt blog ALTHOUGH I do not write NSFW often (I am very slow at writing it lol) To get to there, you got to send me an ask off anon and I give you the link. I try to keep the NSFW to its own happy corner of sin c:
:O Yes! I always assumed the tissue went necrotic or was heavily infected too! Especially if his digestive tract got fucked up, or they were fighting somewhere dirty. Seconding your theory!
Nice!! I honestly thought at first infection wasn’t plausible until I did digging and realized it happened faster than I thought and there were different varieties out there and not only that, but the bacteria that cause the infections are found world wide.
Sort of that thing where the pieces fall into place the more you look! I was actually looking up something else for writing and saw something about how fast infection could spread and gave it a second look to this situation <3
Glad to see some people agree and/or just find this theory interesting<3
....I’m always confused by theories of Genji’s apparent murder being so graphic and involved amputations and the like.
Hanzo didn’t kill Genji. He was alive to agree to be a cyborg. Overwatch saved Genji but they would have to be right there and KNOW Hanzo had picked that day to do his brother in. I don’t think it couldhave been know quickly enough to jump in and save Genji. It just...never makes sense to me that Hanzo horrifically maimed Genji. The wounds required to replace arms and legs and organs would be LETHAL within a few seconds, let alone minutes.
...this all came to me as I was doing a lot of research into wounds and what wounds you could survive and discovered a lot of “this doesn’t make medical sense” in the many theories I’ve seen of Genji being “eaten by Hanzo’s dragon” and “hacked to pieces” and so got me thinking... what could have caused Genji to be so hurt he needed to be turned into a cyborg and I found some... more horrific facts than just being maimed...
SO! HERE IS MY THEORY ON GENJI’S ‘MURDER’ THAT NIGHT BY HANZO...
(Disclaimer: Not an expert, but just going on the research I’ve done so take it as you want c:)
Hanzo believes he killed Genji but apparently, no body WAS buried as we know Genji was taken in by Overwatch.... I believe Hanzo did damage that LOOKED to be lethal, superficial cuts, enough to get Genji on the ground hurting and bleeding... and being just in his mid-twenties, clearly caring for his brother....freaked out and ran, thinking Genji would bleed out. Hanzo COULD NOT deliver the final blow. I believe part of his guilt would be from not GIVING Genji a quick death ontop of even trying to murder Genji in the first place. It would have been honorable to kill.
I believe Hanzo’s care for his brother couldn’t bring him to the final blow so he ran and figured the wounds were bleeding enough to cause him to die.
Blows to the chest and the like, even if NOT hitting an organ are still lethal as it is like puncturing a balloon in your abdominal cavity and it ...sucks in. Literally your body SUCKS in the air and collapes which is why you need to immediantly block suck wounds to help the person survive. So, no blows to the chest or Genji would be dead unless he was calm enough to try and calmly hold his wounds shut and got wounded no place else. Highly unlikely.
Cutting the neck, arms off, legs off, striking the legs or lower arms.... DEATH. Those are major arteries and you bleed out fast and furiously. At the very least? 20 SECONDS IF YOU HIT AN ARTERY AND IT IS NOT CLOSED UP/HAD PRESSURE ON IT. So yeah. Chop of Genji’s leg. I highly doubt Overwatch is going to be able to get there in 20 seconds to help him :I Tracer’s fast, but not that fast and if Overwatch was there THAT fast....I’m sure Hanzo would STILL BE THERE and see them take his brother away :b
A reasonable conclusion! For example, head wounds DO appeared to bleed more ONLY because of all the tiny veins in your face. Given how scared Genji’s face is? He could have looked like he was bleeding out his eyes dead. Other areas of the body are the same way. As long as Hanzo’s blows did NOT strike any major arteries, Genji would not have bleed out quickly to a lethal death. Enough blood to give appearance.
Maybe he even passed out as the human body does pass out when blood is lost to slow heart rate and try to prevent blood loss. I doubt in a state of distress Hanzo is going to check for a pulse. He left in a hurry. If he did it in a remote area, just wanted out. If he did it at the manor? Servants probably tossed a passed out Genji into the body dump or something. If you dumb a body in a landfill, no one is going to find it. Then Genji comes to ina landfill, wounded and afraid.
Those wounds Hanzo gave Genji weren’t enough to kill him so why did he need to be turned into a cyborg? Because there was ANOTHER more sinister and more horrific culprit at hand.
Genji is hurt, unable to obtain medical help or get to help in unsanitary conditions. Those wounds got infected. By what?Wet Gangrene. Within hours, wet gangrene can set in and it can spread RAPIDLY in the body. The infections involved can lead to death. Imagine that. Hanzo left Genji to die and he starts to develop infections in those wounds, the skin starts to die around the wounds, incredible pain and feverish symptoms. Unable to focus.... but still alive when Overwatch would find him.Even if it took a day, the infection could be already spreading towards septic shock. Wet Gangrene has the ability to cause death in hours once it sets in.This also makes more sense for how Overwatch FOUND Genji, alone, could easily save him without Hanzo or the clan realizing Genji was alive. He was left to die somewhere out of the way. Overwatch would have heard of the altercation by then and sent someone to investigate, find Genji, sick, wounded, near death, and his limbs all blacked with signs of gangrene. It would require amputation. Amputation is the most common treatment for Gangrene. Arms and legs safely removed. Parts of dead flesh removed from organs and chest. The only way to save failing organs was to start modifying him into a cyborg. That he would be just lucid enough to agree after being told it was his only chance to live.Hanzo did not grind Genji up, slash him to pieces, rip off his limbs, and otherwise make it impossible for Genji to survive, no.He left him for dead for wounds that appeared worse than they were, too stressed to double-check his brother’s apparent corpse, the body was somewhere that would allow Overwatch to find it OR if he DID attack Genji in their home, a few servants just “disposing” The passed out Genji somewhere like a dumb, increasing his chances for infection from gangrene. The wounds were infected. Within hours, he was sick with illness. By the time Overwatch finds him, a foot in the grave and the only way to save him is amputation and cybornetics. Genji survives, Hanzo thinks Genji is dead, the clan thinks Genji is dead....And you realize that Genji could have survived one o the most horrific physical, mental, and emotional moments of his life, alone and knowing he was going to die but unable to do a thing to save himself.... utterly helpless and alone.THAT is my theory.
