6 macaronnie “is there a reason you’re naked in my bed?”
tw for alcohol mention
Veronica immediately regrets jolting awake in response to a gentle hand jostling her.
As soon as her eyes open, as soon as she moves, she’s confronted with a violent, pounding headache and a rolling wave of nausea. “Ughhhh.”
“Hey,” a voice gently reaches out, like an angel descending from the heavens to save her. “Can you sit? I have water and painkillers for you.”
Veronica groans again and pushes herself to sit up. She sits in perfect silence for a long moment, eyes closed and swaying gently back and forth against her will as she tries valiantly to keep the contents of her stomach where they belong.
When she opens her eyes, a tray with a glass of water, two ibuprofen, cup of coffee, and a banana sit before her. Along with Mac.
Veronica realizes after a beat that it’s a bit breezier than she’s used to. She looks down and scrambles to cover herself when she realizes she’s completely naked.
“You don’t have to be embarrassed, I’ve already seen everything you have to offer,” Mac chuckles kindly. “You certainly weren’t hiding anything last night.”
Veronica groans and buries her face in her hands.
“So uh… is there a reason you’re naked in my bed?” Heather asks gently.
Veronica keeps her face firmly in her hands and wishes the universe would just swallow her whole before she gets a chance to process her hazy memories from last night.
“Wrong Heather,” she grunts. She knows that much.
“What?” Mac asks, delicately brushing Veronica’s mess of hair away from her face.
Veronica finally removes her hands and instead uses them to fiddle with a stray thread on the yellow duvet protecting her modesty. “Chandler’s gonna- ugh. Kill me. I meant to go to hers and try to kiss up. But I guess I came here instead.”
“That makes sense. But she won’t kill you, I promise. Duke and I won’t let her,” Mac says. “But you might want to apologize anyway.”
“Thanks,” Veronica replies, barely gracing her with a glance. “Do you, um…”
“You climbed in my window and started taking your clothes off almost immediately,” Heather giggles. “They had some… stuff on them, so I put them in the wash for you. Here.”
She hands Veronica a matching yellow pajama set, a tank top and pants made of a butter yellow satin. Veronica takes them thankfully, and Mac turns around so she can change with some privacy. The top is a bit tight, and the pants only go halfway down her shin, but they fit well enough for what she needs. “Thanks.”
Heather just nods. “Here. This should help with the hangover. I’ll go see if your clothes are ready.”
“Wait,” Veronica says, reaching out as best she can before Heather can leave.
Mac turns. “Hm?”
“Um… can you… sit with me a little longer?” Veronica asks shyly. Heather smiles gently and nods, sitting back down on the side of her bed. Veronica smiles back and grabs the water and painkillers. Once they’re down, she asks, “Did I do anything totally embarrassing last night?”
“You mean besides trying to kiss me and telling me how hot I was every ten seconds? No,” Heather smirks, peeling the banana and offering it to her.
“I what?!”
“It was very flattering. Until you finally got me into bed and fell asleep as soon as your head hit the pillow.”
“…I got you into bed?” Veronica mumbles.
“Yes, drunk you just oozes charm,” Heather teases. “If you weren’t drunk I might’ve said yes.”
Veronica nibbles consideringly on her banana. “I’m not drunk now.”
Heather smiles and rests a soft, tanned hand on her cheek, leaning in to kiss the other with pillowy lips. “We’ll see about when you don’t look like you’re gonna hurl every time you turn your head.”
“Fine,” Veronica pouts. Heather chuckles.
“Eat up, pillowcase.”
27 and 29 w Mac and Ronnie plss
hello nonnie!!
27 macaronnie “i’m pregnant.”
tw for pregnancy. duh.
“‘M home,” Veronica grumbles quietly as she kicks off her shoes and stumbles down the hall. Mac comes running up to meet her, throwing her arms around Veronica’s neck and standing on her tiptoes to hold her.
“What is it? Is it the flu? I knew it was, come sit down-” she says in a flurry. She pulls back and trails a hand down Veronica’s arm to squeeze and tug her hand towards the couch.
Veronica shakes her head and holds out a strip of photos. Heather looks at the black and white images for a second, processing, before her eyes grow wide and her head snaps to look up at her.
“Veronica…”
“Turns out that taking the pill an hour late doesn’t work,” Veronica replies with a terrified, tiny grin.
“You’re pregnant?” Mac whispers shakily. “Can I-”
Veronica nods and lets Heather take the ultrasound photos. “I’m pregnant.”
Mac grips the photos so tightly between her fingers that they nearly tear, her honey-brown eyes scanning every little inch of the shrimp-shaped baby currently residing in Veronica’s uterus.
“I’m sorry.”
Mac snaps to look at her. “For what?”
Veronica looks at her blankly and points to the photos. “This?”
“Why would you be sorry, baby?” Heather asks in concern. Veronica flinches. “Sorry, I’m sorry.”
“We’ve only been together for like, two months. We’re eighteen,” Veronica replies like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “And obviously the kid’s not yours.”
Heather gently flicks her ear, but she smiles. “You had a boyfriend first. I knew you slept with him. This technically was always a possibility.”
“But-”
“And even if it has only been a couple months, you’ve… you saved my life already, Veronica. There’s nothing I’m not willing to do for you. Whether you keep the baby or not, I’m here for you too.”
“You’d drop everything and raise a whole kid with me?”
“I fucking hope they’re whole,” Mac cracks. Veronica snorts and tucks her face into Heather’s shoulder. “But yeah, I would. It’ll be hard, but if you want to keep the baby, that’s your choice. And I’ll be here for you both.”
“You’re serious?” Veronica asks incredulously. Heather nods.
“Of course. You want to go to school, I don’t, so I’ll be around to take care of them while you’re gone. We have friends, and your parents love you like crazy. It’s not like we’d be alone. We have a village. Again, it’ll be hard, but we can do it. It might be a little earlier than I’d planned, but I love you. If that means getting to love a baby too, then… so be it.”
Veronica squeezes her girlfriend close. “I love you too.”
She feels Heather smile. “We having a kid, then?”
Veronica chuckles. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
29 macaronnie “i thought you were dead.”
tw for death mentions and blood and whatnot
“Veronica!”
Veronica jumps and whirls around just before a blur of yellow collides with her and knocks her to the road.
Not a bus, just Mac.
“It’s really you! Ms. Fleming told everyone you killed yourself, I thought you were dead!” she wails, sobbing into Veronica’s ash-covered blue blazer. Veronica looks at herself, her skin stained with dust and gore, and thinks she might as well be.
She holds up her hands in surrender. “Nope. All in one piece.”
“I was so mad at you,” Heather hiccups. “After you saved me, I didn’t… how could you have done that to yourself?! But-but you…”
“I’m here, Mac,” Veronica murmurs. “It’s okay.”
“What happened to you?” Heather replies, tenderly stroking some blood from Veronica’s cheek.
“JD happened,” Veronica replies. “For the last time.”
“Was that sound-”
Veronica nods. “He blew himself up on the football field.”
Heather stares at her hollowly for a moment before the floods of tears are pulled out of her like the tide and she pitches herself at her again. “I’m so glad you’re okay!”
“Me too, Mac.”
“I’m sorry, though. I know you loved him a lot.”
Veronica shakes her head. “I didn’t for a while, I don’t think. He did so much I couldn’t stand by for. I’ll miss him, but not… not like that.”
“Why does everyone keep dying, Veronica?” Mac snuffles quietly.
“…I don’t know, Mac. But nobody else will if I have anything to say about it.”
Heather looks up at her with watery eyes and a wide smile. Veronica can’t help herself. Mac gasps quietly when she leans in, but eagerly kisses her back, tangling her hands in Veronica’s already disastrous hair and pulling her even closer.
“Martha and I are gonna go watch The Princess Bride,” Veronica gasps when they break to breathe. Heather laughs at that being the first thing on her mind. “You wanna come?”
“Yeah,” Heather replies with a gentle smile. “Yeah, I wanna come.”
“As you wish.”
16 with macaroonie
hello dear tysm!!
16, macaronnie, lazily
Veronica wakes up to the sound of the bedroom curtains being abruptly yanked open and her girlfriend announcing, “This is a terrible day.”
Veronica startles a bit from her spot still in bed, tangled in the blankets. She groans sleepily and rubs her eyes. “Whassamatter w’th it?”
As if to answer her, the sky rumbles with a clap of thunder.
“Oh.”
Mac pouts at the window and humphs to herself as she tugs the curtains shut. One gets stuck on the curtain rod, and she grumbles unintelligibly under her breath while she yanks it back and forth until it closes properly. “Weather says it’s gonna storm all day.”
“Mm,” Veronica hums, trying to resist the tempting pull of sleep beckoning her back. She groans as she sits upright. “Whatcha wanna do about it?”
“Yell at god? I dunno,” Mac grumbles. Veronica chuckles and stands behind her girlfriend, wrapping her arms around her waist and kissing her neck. Heather hums contently and leans back into her.
“I have an idea,” Veronica murmurs.
“Is it sex?” Heather asks knowingly. Veronica shrugs.
“Not necessarily. Can if you want,” she responds. Heather hums pensively.
“Later, maybe?”
Veronica nods and kisses her again. “Whatever you want.”
“What’s your idea, then?” Heather asks.
“Wait and see,” Veronica says. Heather looks at her in concern as Veronica grabs the fluffy blanket from their bed and leaves the room.
“What are you scheming this time?”
Veronica laughs and just keeps going. Heather follows her and frowns in confusion as Veronica heads onto their screened in deck. The thunder rumbles around them and the pouring rain is turned into a fine, cool mist as it hits the screen, but Veronica pushes the couch against the wall where it’s dry and plops herself down. “C’mere.”
Heather blinks in confusion but shuffles over to her girlfriend, both of them still in their matching blue and yellow jammies. Veronica hauls her onto her lap and cloaks the blanket over the both of them.
“There,” she says contently.
Heather pouts a little as she settles in, but quickly decides this is actually very enjoyable and sinks further into her girlfriend. She almost falls back asleep listening to the soothing sounds of the rain hitting the roof above them and sitting protected from the cold wind by the blanket and Veronica’s warm embrace.
They both lose track of how long they sit just like that. Listening to the other breathe and the song of the thunder.
Eventually, Heather sighs and adjusts herself a bit. She winds up much closer to Veronica’s face and takes full advantage of it. She rests her hand on Veronica’s cheek and gently presses her lips to her jawline over and over. Veronica squeals at the sensation and tips her face down to look at her.
“Hey,” she greets.
“Hey,” Mac replies with a smile. Veronica smiles back and leans in to kiss her properly.
Mac sighs contently as their lips brush against each other, a soft, slow, peaceful push and pull between the two of them. As upset as she was to wake up to a storm, she’s glad to have an excuse to have a lazy morning in with her beloved.
The most perfect lazy day.
