“This is inedible,” Alistair muttered, glaring at his stew. Bethany stopped in her tracks behind him, a horrible flushing building in her cheeks. 

“Oghren said it was your favorite.” 

“Maker’s breath, Beth.” He jumped, the bowl flying out of his lap and landing in the dirt. “Don’t sneak up on a man like that.” 

Bethany watched her evening’s work seep into the ground, paralyzed by embarrassment. She couldn’t have gotten it more wrong if she’d tried. 

“Wait, Oghren said, what?”

Hurray for unpacking! What a great discovery!

It was pretty exciting. Thing 2 attempted to play it too, with less success. I told him he should try on the next soda bottle we had, but I think he forgot already?

I think every one of my pans has a least a little meltage on the handle (usually from a metal spoon that got too hot and was forgotten about, oops)

I'm feeling the same-ish on CR (and I need to see it to understand). Also on the fannish/writing part of it. That said, I think this is a phase, not a dead end <3 (pretty sure we've both been here before)

I know it’s not permanent, but it’s a pain to be in right now. *hugs*

And yeah, I also have to watch CR to process it, and that just takes too long? IDEK. Does anyone know if they’re going to start a new campaign when this one’s done? That might be a good time to try and jump back in w/o the backlog to worry about. (And watch with Thing 1, he is super duper interested, and it’s hard to get him interested in anything lately. He’s had a rough few years.)

Creative work can burn you out really badly. It doesn't make you not creative to need some time to recharge and take care of yourself. You can't use a pen when the ink's run dry and you can't wring things out of your brain when you're running on empty. I hope we'll see you back when you've had a chance to recharge, but you don't need to be making things to be a wonderful presence in fandom. You're loved and appreciated! Please take care of you! <3

Thanks, I’ll do my best. I’m really not sure, at this point, if I’m going to attempt fic again? I’m sure there will be something eventually, but maybe not that. We shall see.

you can definitely talk about them any time you want! I also tend to fic rather than just post headcanons. sometimes I feel like I should do more of hte latter.

21: Then there’s tongue (why am I not surprised by your choice? :D Why am I determined to fail to answer this in the style it which it is intended? who knows, I am apparently very contrary)

“You put the darkspawn blood I collected in that, didn’t you.” 

It was not the usual recruit response to the ceremony of the Joining, and Nate almost blinked, a brief gap in his usual impeccably somber Warden-Commander face. Bethany’s lips started to smile before she could stop them, and she heard Sigrun’s snort behind her; the only one who hadn’t even attempted to hide her amusement.

“I’m afraid so,” Nate answered, his voice just a touch lighter than usual, though he’d gotten his face back under control.

“And now I have to drink it.”

“Yes.”

“That’s disgusting.”

“Only the first of many disgusting choices,” Bethany couldn’t resist, pursing her lips in a long-distance kiss as Fenris glanced her way, brows heavy but eyes alight. “Aren’t you glad you came?”

His expression softened, an actual smile, small and sweet enough she felt an ache in her chest, a twitch in her fingers as she wished she could let her fingers rest against his mouth, wished she could step closer without throwing out what little was left of their oh-so-solemn ceremony. “Of course I am.” He shrugged, an elegant shift of shoulders and flick of fingers, as if shoving the whole situation to the side, and Sigrun made another soft noise, this one sounding perilously close to a swallowed giggle. “Doesn’t make it less disgusting.”

“You are such a snob.” Bethany stuck her tongue out at him, just to see the way his eyes smiled back at her. “Turning your nose up at anything less than agreggio.”

“It’s nice to be able to choose, isn’t it?” Almost wistful, and they were back where they started, solemn and quiet. 

“Is this what you choose?” The Warden-Commander’s voice was low, and rough, Nate’s eyes steady as he offered Fenris the goblet.

Fenris took it easily, the dark liquid inside barely shifting as it moved. “Yes.”

9, 13?

9. What’s the fic you like the least?

OH. oh. Well.

There are a couple ficlets I’ve never archived, or shorts I never claimed off the kinkmeme, because they never did quite work, but as I never saved them it would be quite impossible to find them to illustrate?

uh. Glancing through my AO3, most of them did what I wanted them to do in the best way I knew how when I wrote them, so I don’t dislike any?

Probably the only one I knew wasn’t right but posted anyways was Once Upon a Time in Dust Town. I had trouble figuring out Ingva/Alistair for a long time, and sort of relied on tropes/short-hand to finish it. 

13. Do you have a favorite character to write for?

heh. All of them? Especially my Hawkes. <3

Well, I like writing against type, when I’m writing my favorite characters. I enjoy writing Isabela when she’s soft, and Merrill angry and Bethany bitter and the softest touch of Carver’s fingertips when he’s quiet and kind.

I like writing my Theia Hawke both when she’s terrifying, and terrified, and maybe even when she learns to be honest. If she ever gets there. She’s a little uncooperative.

You are an amazing artist. Yes I can't draw but I have seen the others. Whether you think they are better or not should not affect your art's worth as it is already beautiful. Keep up the good work and enjoy this new year <3
