Month of Fanart - Day 8 Variations on a Theme (with Tank and Gunfire) by servantofclio
paper texture by rae134
Back over to Mass Effect for a time-looping story. Basically, what if Shepard was stuck in a loop, reliving the events of the games over and over again, while everyone else around her seemed clueless about the loop?
@servantofclio, this one's for you!
So this week in our multi-player adventures, @probablylostrightnow, @servantofclio and I started Astarion's quest
Well, we started it last week but got out behinds kicked by Cazador, probably because Astarion was still in his starting armor and only with one basic dagger. Oops
This week, though? We prepared. Since Clio's Lavendar is also a rogue, we respecced Astarion as a fighter
And decided to give him some new threads. The result was pretty hilarious :D
We didn't have enough time to do the actual Cazador fight tonight, so that will be next week. When I will take more screenshots!

LOVE IT, love her! I'm going to start my Pre-DA:V playthrough very soon, too!!
YAY! <3 (thank you)

I love her already, poor Brosca
people still keep calling her my lady when she goes places
she's not really complaining?
but wtf
every time it happens she kind of does this weird almost-jump and looks around, because either they have to be talking to someone else or she's about to get arrested for impersonating a non-duster
and then nope, they mean her, and everyone else thinks that's good?
again, this is not bad
but it is very very weird
and will continue to be weird

Finna: so relatable.
she is just.
so tired
why is everyone so melodramatic and complicated about everything? 😅
Yeah, kinda! Or they might have seen a lot of films, but only films that are… two or three or four layers removed from the thing they’re making. Like if someone wanted to craft a 70’s-style political conspiracy thriller, but their only personal reference point for that entire genre was Captain America: The Winter Soldier, y’know what I mean? It’s like trying to make out details through cheese cloth.
The places in the grand tapestry of Goncharov where folks try to subvert a trope in the genre (by saying Goncharov subverts that trope) don’t really feel authentic because they don’t have knowledge of the rules they’re trying to break. Subversions are responses to things, but they didn’t hear the thing they’re responding to so it feels kind of flat and hollow. (But the thing is that I’m talking about a fake movie that doesn’t exist, so this whole thing is already an impressive and noble creative endeavor, don’t get me wrong!)
Maybe it’s simpler than that. Maybe it’s that there’s so much love for Goncharov right now, and I feel like when it’s over that love isn’t gonna be passed on to the creations that have indirectly inspired the people “making” Goncharov right now. Maybe that’s what bums me out.
Or maybe I just want people to watch cool movies. I have a history of wanting that.

I feel like there’s going to be a reckoning for the asari in any post-game scenario.
Oh... man. Tell me about it. The asari are going to make perfect scapegoats. You’ve got a galaxy full of people trying to make sense of a tragedy on an unfathomable scale. People are angry and scared and grieving whole planets, billions dead. The Reapers are gone, the war is over, there’s nowhere to direct all those feelings...
And then you hear that the asari had a Prothean beacon. A beacon given to them specifically to help them fight the Reapers. A beacon they hid from the galaxy, in defiance of their own laws.
The asari would go from Everyone’s Favorite Sexy Space Babes to An Entire Race of Galactic Traitors pretty much overnight.
The Council Conventions forbid council races from withholding Prothean tech, but I can’t find anything that specifies what, exactly, the repercussions are. Whatever they are, I guarantee every government that agreed to that convention will be demanding the asari face those repercussions. Doesn’t matter that they’re trying to rebuild their homeworld, that their (and everyone’s) economy is in shambles. People are out for blood, figuratively or literally.
I’d be shocked if they were allowed to keep their council seat. I don’t know how far it would go - they probably wouldn’t be kicked off the Citadel entirely - but pretty much every law the asari had a hand in making (which is..... all of them) would be under scrutiny.
Socially the asari would go from top of the food chain to ranking slightly higher than the vorcha - and it’d be a close call.
OH HEY GOD FORBID ANYBODY FIND OUT ABOUT THE ARDAT YAKSHI. Every pureblood asari you talk to could secretly be a sex vampire, and I doubt the average alien can tell the difference between a pureblood and a non-pureblood just by looking. If you even can tell by looking.
This is too long a post now. Anyway, the asari are fuuuucked.
K O R?
HI! Thank you! <3
K -Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms
You are a constant delight and I’m so glad everytime I see you pop up on my dash. I love your writing and Val Shepard and the amazing Sewers to the Stars crossover that I’d never have considered but adore <3 you’re one of those people that reminds me why i’m so glad i’ve stayed on tumblr.
O - Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of
ooh, randomness. Hmm. Okay, the first song that came up from Pandora’s shuffle was Talk by Hozier.
Imagine being loved by me! I won't deny I've got in my mind now all the things we'd do So I'll try to talk refined for fear that you find out how I'm imaginin' you I'd be the last shred of truth In the lost myth of true love I'd be the sweet feeling of release Mankind now dreams of That's found in the last witness
Oh, well. That’s entirely an Aeryn/Sebastian song, don’t you think? ;D
R - A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships
Gosh...before I joined the ME discord I’m on, I’d have said Kaidan/Zaeed (though I was thinking pre-war and still very much ship that) But I’m also thinking Kaidan might have run across a pilot turned shady bastard, back during his break between BaAT and joining the Alliance, so Kaidan/Reyes.
I just really want Kaidan to have a little fun, ya know. <3
