Hi! Great question. I’m so glad you want to share your story and raise BFRB awareness! One thing that I’ve found helpful when reaching out to media is first off, deciding whether you want to write an article, or want to submit an for an article. If you want to write an article, I’d suggest writing for The Mighty, one of TLC’s partners, who publishes articles related to mental health. You can also research websites/news outlets that accept submissions. Just submit your idea and email some people who work for the website. If you want to submit an idea for writing a story about BFRBs, I would suggest contacting people who work/write for the website/media and sharing your story with them (you can often find their emails on their Twitters, or if you click their name on their byline). Tell them why you are reaching out, and why BFRB awareness is so important. Let them know what makes you unique – why is your BFRB journey different from others, and why is it meaningful? Also, keep in mind that when reaching out, many people don’t know what BFRBs are, so make sure you explain them (bfrb.org has lots of good info on this). Funnily enough, I’ve had many reporters write back to me telling me that they also suffer from a BFRB! I hope that this helps and good luck!-Mackensie
