her nose wrinkles in the disgust of a small child whose just seen somebody chew with their mouth open--or, you know, other unfathomably disgusting things like that.

"i'll never understand the appeal of--of looking and smelling like you just crawled out of an ash tray. if this is modern fashion, i'd rather walk around in those awful rubber crocs and a sack. even those are better than looking so--you know. awful."

is this a general remark on the sorry state of people today or a passive aggressive remark? the world may never know.

or that she's technically underage, by a year. or that her father, who drinks two or three glasses of wine at dinner every night, strictly prohibits drinking in the community--but then again, desire to rebel against this rule is why she's got a six pack of beer with two more to go dangling limply from her aching arms.
