Even for the abandoned house on Angelino Heights, he wouldn’t have thought breaking and entering could be so easy. Lucas followed after Macky, managing to only slightly catch his foot on the windowsill as he stumbled inside. “We should have the Mission Impossible theme song playing right now,” he joked, adjusting the straps of his backpack before making a grab for his phone, as if he was going to pull up Spotify and put it on right then. Instead, he turned on the flashlight feature, keeping the brightness dim to get a better idea of what room they’d dropped themselves into. @mackyeccleston

“He was my best friend. I was 17. It was Kyle, me, Heather, and Nate. When you grow up sitting in detention together every year 6th grade onwards, you’re more than friends; you’re family. And then he was gone, just like that. I didn’t know how to deal with it so I stopped talking to everyone. His girlfriend accused me of being a drama queen and making everything about myself. It was a week to graduation, and I didn’t go. Pulled out of the college I was enrolled at. It’s been so long but it doesn’t suck any less. At the end of the day, I’m always just…pissed. Pissed that there were so many plans we had, things we were going to do, and they all just went up in smoke, just like that. I’ve lost others close to me and time does make things easier, makes you numb so you can deal with it…but not Kyle. That shit sucks to think about every time.”
