just about the only positive side of having to go out for bugs really late in the day during the height of summer is the opportunity to see really annoyingly active things taking a break. a few of these antlions (Macronemurus appendiculatus) had a recurring sleeping spot where i could photograph their goofy faces and antennae, whereas during the day i'd be lucky to catch a single pixel of their hindwings
