Macgyver’s New Recruit.
THIS IS JUST AN OPINION.
Please don’t lose your mind over it.
Alright, I’ll be honest - I have yet to watch the episode of Macgyver in which Jack leaves. I haven’t watched anything after that either. I’m not afraid to say that I’m a softy and I get attached to characters reaaaaal easily.
Now, while I haven’t watched the introduction of Desi, the constant gifs and excitement about her intro into the show is enough of a head start for lots of Macgyver fans to seriously lose their minds over what her possible involvement with Mac may be. We all know just how handsome Lucas Till as Mac is but I don’t think that’s any reason to start hating a character just because there may end up being some kind of romantic involvement. I, personally, do not like the idea.
Why? For me, that’s easy peasy.
When George left and everyone found out that they would be bringing in a female character to ‘replace’ him - I don’t think anyone will really have the capability to replace the bromance that Mac and Jack have - I was really hoping to see a relationship from a whole different perspective. My real hope was that she would already have a partner who was in some kind of normal job, outside of covert ops, and that it would be a way to A) see how her work and the danger she is in on a daily basis would affect such a relationship and B) it would also show Mac that a relationship like that can work. We all know that Mac has his worries about his future in respect to having a wife and kids, so I think it would have been awesome to see someone bring in the idea that it can work.
That’s my say on what fans will be worrying about. Yes, I don’t like the idea of Mac and Desi ending up in a relationship but that’s merely because I would have loved to have seen a relationship already going through the motions of Desi and her job and still being strong. Yeeeees, we have Riley who is technically in a relationship with someone outside of The Phoenix but it isn’t the same as a normal job. I’m talking a job that’s completely outside the realm of tracking bad guys and secrecy. But, if it comes to Mac and Desi ending up in a relationship? It doesn’t mean I’d start hating her or that I’d start hating the show. By the time I sum up the courage to see Jack leave, I’m pretty sure people will have some idea of how the relationship between Mac and Desi is developing, whether they become friends or something more but either way, it won’t stop me from enjoying a show that I’ve loved from the first episode!
Sneak peak of MacGyver Season 3 when Mac tries to start his own agency with Jack lol.
