“No, no, no, not with the face. Stop.” ( macxroons )
Road to El Dorado | @macxroons
“Face? What face are you referring to, Cameron? Can’t a girl just give her normal CHARMING smile to a fellow who catches her eye?”
That was laying it on a bit thick perhaps. But it was the price she’d have to pay. She’d been ITCHING to get off the base for nearly a week, but to no avail. Some nonsense about supervision and proper clearance... Only now she had a new strategy - one she was, frankly, ashamed she hadn’t thought to employ before.
Just her winning personality.
After a moment, the smile fell to an equally dramatic sigh. “I thought it was a rather simple request. Just a meal that consists of actual food rather than the biohazardous waste you people call cafeteria food. For the record, Cameron, NO meat should be a mystery!” Vala waved her hand, returning to her original point. “I’d just like to go to a nice restaurant, get some fresh air, and see something other than these dreary gray walls!” She tipped her head to the side.
“Pretty please?”

“If you mean something called a ‘reusable care bear menstrual pad’... then yes. It is. And I’m a bit -- baffled. It glows in the dark. Why does it do that? What could anyone possibly need to see.... down there?”
“I literally save lives for a living -- that’s not trustworthy?”

“Yeah, you know, I suppose we are,” he chuckled. “Well I’ve got my money on a boy. Just a hunch. My grandma used to say you could tell by a woman’s hairline. Or there’s the old ring swing trick. She insisted she was never wrong with that one.” Truthfully, he just guessed a boy for everyone. Half his friends thought he was a genius. “And I bet he’ll be a real smart one, too. Take after his momma.”
She could not help but grin at the compliment -- even if it was shameless flattery. “You compliment my intelligence, but I must admit -- I’m now concerned for my hairline,” she teased. But... in all honesty, she was intrigued. “Does she really use string? What could that possibly prove? Of course, healers on my world thought they could tell just by the way the mother walked, but... I never put much stock in that.” More than once, she’d delighted in telling Skaara that if the healers’ predictions were correct, he should have been a girl. Her nose wrinkled a little and she shook her head. “A boy would be wonderful of course, but.... I’m hoping for a girl...”
