On this week’s Missed Monday, KRTS addresses the current social climate in regards to racial tension between authority and civilians in his latest album, Close Eyes To Exit.
We already covered KRTS’ single from the album, “My Head Is Jumpin’” and today we want to take a look at the politically charged album. Full of references to police violence, racial disparity, white privilege and homosexuality, the album asks listeners to take a close and provides a soundtrack with which to reflect. “Serve and Protect” is a special example because it features rapper and poet, Mad Flows. The song asks how a system can be beholden unto one group while on the payroll of another.
The songs are all really reflective and give the listener a chance to look inside and assess their own feelings. I highly recommend a good concentrated listen. Another gem from Project: Mooncircle.
