hooooooooo boy. Well, first off ,no, it wasn’t ok back then, and even if it was, that doesn’t justify it being promoted today, especially since FE appeals to modern morality in so many other situations.
But seriously guys, repeat after me:
INCEST. IS NOT. ROMANTIC.
Incest is predatory. Incest is manipulative. Incest is based on unequal power balances that make consent impossible.
Priscilla and Corrin are not real. Their attitudes were given to them by male writers. These two and the whole genre of “siscon” or whatever crap perpetuates and normalizes ideas that younger sisters are in old with their older brothers (or i guess vice versa for m!corn and cam/hinoka though those seem a bit more like a power fantasy) and blurs boundaries between familial romantic love. It also gives leeway for and normalizes male predatory behavior towards their family members. If someone seriously thought they were in love with their sibling in real life they’d need therapy, not to be told those attitudes are okay and normal. Hell, FE7 seems to mostly understand that in Priscilla’s case since when she brings it up other people (including Raven) treat it like it’s weird as hell.
Could you construct some convoluted hypothetical where you can argue that incest might be acceptable? I guess, but unless that’s actually happened it’s not worth being considered since all that’s doing is trying to distract from the cases in front of us.
IS here, through putting Priscilla on a banner called “Enduring Love” alongside Rhajat, etc is equating Priscilla’s conffused and therapy-needing feelings with romantic love (admittedly the other three characters are not exactly paragons of pure romantic love either and are pretty unhealthily obsessed but at least it’s not fucking incest). And that is not even remotely acceptable.
