so season 8 is just about dean coming back from purgatory with a new boyfriend. and sam being crazy jealous of his new boyfriend and being a loser over a girl he liked. and then dean’s old boyfriend comes back and they get Gayer than before.

@mad-oxy I can see that actually. I was looking more from Cas’ point of view while typing the post which is why I hadn’t addressed Dean as much.

Dean did seem to love Benny more during his time in Purgatory. My theory for that is ‘any port in a storm’. Dean uses sex to feel better about his world overall. Regular sex keeps him grounded. With the apparent absence of women in Purgatory, he would probably consider bedding a man just to keep his equilibrium. If he abstained from sex his mind would have been more scattered, and in a place like they were in he couldn’t afford that, which may be why he was able to be with Benny. But I’ll bet he topped exclusively ;)
