" Madania " in islamic faith means city or civilian. That could be the interpretation of Moderate Islam or Modern Islam. The ways how to be a " madanian " have been stated in Qur'an in the best way like kindness, peace, respect and tolerance. But fanatism has prohibited and twisted this into a radical problem.
Week 11
On the eleventh week we had our midtest. The midtest started on Thursday and ended on Wednesday. It was the first midtest I had on this new school year. Before the midtest I already studied.
I studied on Wednesday before the test started. I studied for the subject that were tested on Thursday because it was the first test that I was going to take. At home I read through all my notes and opened the e-learning. I studied in the morning and in the afternoon. I also played some games and watch TV so I don’t get bored by studying too much.
Thursday morning I went to school as usual. I went to school at six o’clock and arrived a few minutes before seven. Then I began to study again. I read through my notes again and studied more than I had studied at home. After I read my notes I read my notes again until I was ready. When the bell rang I went to the class to take the test. The test was two hours long. Then I took another test which was one and a half hours long.
The events that happened in paragraph three were repeated for five days until the tests were over. Then I got a three day holiday. The end.
Week 10
On the tenth week we were having a presentation and reinforcement for the midtest. We were presenting the displays we made on the week before. Midtest was very close, so Ms. Fajri gave us a review.
It was my group’s turn to present our display. We went to the front of the class bringing our display. Our display was really nice. It had a lot of colors and there was a car in it. The car was purple. The display also had meaningful words written on it. We used all the rhetorical appeals to make it as persuasive as possible.
After everybody had their chance to present their work we then had a review or reinforcement for the midtest. Ms. Fajri showed us a slide that had all the topics in the test. There were a lot of things needed to be studied again. This time, I decided studied at home as well so that I would get a good grade unlike the formative test where I didn’t study at home.
The midtest was really close so I studied for all the subjects including English. I prepared myself as much as possible for the test. I liked the midtest, because I could go home fast.
Week 9
On the ninth week we learned about advertisement. Unlike any other week before, this week we were making a display. After Ms. Fajri presented about how to make an advertisement and the things required to do it, we then started.
I and my group were making a public service advertisement. It was about the danger of texting while driving. My group made a drawing of a car whose driver is texting while driving. The car was crashing into a person. We colored the car purple. To make the advertisement complete we added rhetorical appeals.
Rhetorical appeals are used to persuade the audience, just like rhetorical devices. There are three rhetorical appeals; Logos, Pathos and Ethos. Logos means logic. It uses facts, evidence and reason to persuade the audience. Pathos means passion or emotion. Persuading the audience by appealing their emotions and feelings is very effective. Last but not least is ethos, which uses ethical appeal or credibility. It persuades the audience by having someone with higher authority or knowledge such as a police or a doctor to convince the audience. The audience then will believe because they are convincing.
I learned so much about advertising. It was also fun to make a display.
Week 8
On the eighth week we studied about speech and rhetorical devices. We had been going to school for about two months now. We learned two topics in a week and I thought it was great. The week started as usual.
We learned about speech. We were also told to make one and present it in front of class. My speech was about procrastination. I procrastinated for a few days before I made my speech. When my speech was done I couldn’t present it in front of class because I wasn’t present the week before. So I did my speech in front of Ms. Fajri.
Rhetorical devices are words that are used to persuade the audience. There are many rhetorical devices, such as: parallelism, antithesis, antimetabole, parenthesis, appositives, alliteration, assonance, anaphora, epistrophe, anadiplosis, climax, synecdoche, metonymy, personification, metaphor, simile, pun, onomatopoeia, litotes, hyperbole, irony, oxymoron, euphemism, rhetorical question, personal involvement, audience involvement, fact & statistic, expert opinion/quotaion and formal/informal register. These are used in persuasive writing to persuade the audience.
I have learned a lot from learning about speech and rhetorical devices. With rhetorical devices I now can make speeches that could persuade the audience. Listening to other people’s speeches were quite fun.
Week 7
On the seventh week we didn’t get a new topic. We had our first formative test for the English lesson on 11th grade. I was not present on the week before so I didn’t know what was the formative going to be about.
When I went to school I didn’t know I was going to have an English formative. I entered the English class while quickly reading through my notes because I didn’t study the night before. When I was not ready the test started. The test consisted of a few pages. It had as many pages as a regular English test.
I then started doing the test. The test had multiple choices and essay. I did the multiple choices first because I thought it was easier. After I was done with the multiple choices I did the essay. The essay was a bit harder than the multiple choices. After about an hour I finished my test. I thought I did pretty well. When the test ended I submitted my test.
A few days later the results for the test were available. My score was not so good even though I thought I did pretty well so I had to take a retest. I have learned that I need to study before a test.

Week 11
The week where I wanted it ended real fast. But we can’t because of reality...
So I accepted the reality. I have to do like other people do, which is “study hard”, but actually I just study a bit for this english exam.
When the English test started, my mind didn’t do the great thing. I cannot hear the recall of the topics and types of things. In the end, I’m a little bit screwed up.
After the exam is done, we wait some days and given out the english score. I end up not passing the passing grade, because I can make it pass if only I do the bonus question which I didn’t do. Actually the bonus question is easy enough. The answer is this whole week of this blog, which is what we have learned this half semester. But I didn’t do it because I don’t have much time.
