Me *listening to "Madder Sky" from Code Geass: This should really be called "Murder Sky"
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 Soundtrack - Madder Sky
Since I suggested I would rec some anime music composer weeks ago, this week’s Movie Music is MADDER SKY by Kōtarō Nakagawa, from Code Geass R2 soundtrack (2008).
I’m sure you want to ask ‘how is it Japanese music when it is so inspired by European classical music?’ And I’d reply that it’s exactly the point, as the show tells the story of an alternate future where most of the world is controlled by the Britannia empire - which is, as its name suggests, European. Kōtarō Nakagawa does a nice job at composing epic music.
Kōtarō Nakagawa was born in 1969 and graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music's school of music. He has worked on numerous anime and TV shows, including Kamen rider. He comes from a musican family.
“You’re going to be a hero now, Suzaku.” “Geass is like a wish. It helps you accomplish something you can’t on your own. I’m going to grant a wish called Geass to the entire world.”
I think this is one of my favorite OSTs of all time. It's fitting for such a great anime
