It occurs to me...did Sebastian even ever know Maddie was Jean’s clone? Like, when they first meet, he has eyes, he should obviously know she looks exactly like Jean Grey, he knows damn well what Jean looks like. But, as I’ve noted many times before, he IMMEDIATELY knows she’s not Jean somehow, he calls her an “unknown being” (and has zero interest in her until Tessa tells him this is who caused Inferno; I love that he judged by accomplishments rather than appearance, that’s so Shaw) And then like, obviously, they got very literally in bed together, and I’m just wondering...did he ever breach the subject of, hey, why do you look EXACTLY like Jean Grey? And if so, did she tell him the truth or not? He knows about Scott and baby Nathan in The Legacy Quest so she did tell him that much, but did she tell him the whole thing? I’m not sure what I like better, the idea he just contently didn’t question it and still to this day doesn’t know because hey, he was fine with what they had going...or the idea she did tell him and he was just completely nonreactive, like “oh well that explains that then” and her just...getting confirmation he doesn’t give a shit about the fact she looks like Jean or genetically *is* Jean? Because for all Shaw’s general shittiness, he never saw Maddie as Jean, he literally never even mentioned her even ONCE in regards to Maddie in canon, and he never had ANY attraction to Jean, either as Marvel Girl or the Black Queen. And that’s just...I really like that about their relationship, and I imagine it’s a big part of what Maddie liked too.

y’know, I always thought it was kinda odd that Shaw of people immediately treated Madelyne as an individual from the get-go, and despite his past with Jean he didn’t for one second confuse the two even though they had just met and she looked exactly like her, like he didn’t even comment on it or wonder about that (or if he did, we didn’t get to see those thought balloons) As far as I can tell, he never even brought it up or asked her about it, ever. but it occurred to me, that kinda makes complete sense for him actually? Not that he never wondered or asked (that’s still weird) but that he saw and treated her instantly as a completely separate individual entity regardless of her appearance. Because this is the dude whose greatest brag, the thing he wants everyone to know about him, is that he is a “self-made man”, whose greatest treasure is his own self and agency and being the sole arbiter of his life/destiny, who chose to risk death over possession, who screamed “I’ll make my own fate!” even while he was bleeding on stretcher, who believes that, I quote, “The individual is all.” Shaw is the bootstrapper Atlas Shrugged social-darwinist from hell, I love him. Come to think of it, maybe that’s what Maddy saw in him too besides dem tits

I like that even before they're (probably) sleeping together, Shaw puts a blanket or something over Maddy's shoulders when she's out at night/early morning. I like it because you can interpret it one of two ways depending how you prefer to view things. One is that it's just a rare moment of Shaw being nice, small as the gesture is. The other is that he's trying to win her over from Selene, whom he thinks she still serves at this point---especially since as he does, he asks her what Selene would think if she knew Madelyne had come to visit him alone.

Is anyone else getting annoyed by the way 9-1-1 is talking around Maddie's PPD? It's all "Maddie's going through a hard time right now" and "Maddie has an evil voice in her head". Like no? Maddie has PPD, a recognizable, treatable and shockingly common illness?

I think the only one who ever mentioned it by name was Hen in that 30 second scene where she talked to Chimney about it.

Can we please put a name to this thing that's happening with Maddie and stop talking around it like it's shameful?

I’ve mentioned before, I think Shaw was good for Maddy (BIZARRE AS THAT IS) while it last but I am also really glad she didn’t stay with him permanently cuz firstly, while he’s not an abusive partner (he’s an abusive father, tyvm) he’s entirely emotionally closed off. He can’t give Maddy what she needs emotionally in the long-term. Like for the short-term he was a hot beefcake who saw her as a separate being from Jean, wasn’t try to use her for anything (again, BIZARRE), and who she could be confident she was truly choosing to be with since he was the first (and thus far, still only) dude she’d ever been with that wasn’t a Summers. And that was all what she needed right then and I’m really glad she got it, but she would need more than that in the long run.  Maddy needs love, like most people, but Shaw won’t, maybe can’t, give that. And Maddy deserves better. secondly...again, Shaw never used her. He never even had plans to use her. He never even asked her to do anything, or even had a thought balloon suggesting he might one day. But he’s Shaw. Sooner or later, he would have. How could he not? She was a total powerhouse with a massive grudge against the X-Men. Shaw has NEVER passed up an advantage in his life, and he gives no fucks who he has to use. I don’t see that changing with Madelyne.  And Maddy, again, deserves so much better. The best damn thing for her would be to move on from the X-Men, and if she must keep going after them, then at least it should be by her own choice and not someone exploiting/profiting off her grudge. Which again, he didn’t do, he never had any plans to do, but I have no doubt he would have done, because he’s Shaw.  And honestly? I’m glad he’s Shaw. I wouldn’t want a “love changed him!” story for Shaw, that’s some bullshits, but I also wouldn’t want to see Madelyne exploited yet again, and by the person that, sad as it is, has really been her only positive romantic relationship. So, best she left while it was still positive. Smart girl, Maddy.
