Hi! OK bear with me because 1. Madeline wrote this and 2. It’s in E standard tuning which I don’t really use anymore. And mostly revolves around the E major chord shape, like a lot of it is doing the E major chord without the low E string, removing one finger, putting that finger back down, and then playing it with the low E string. There’s a point where the video stops and I do the progression again because, during the second verse, there is one additional cord, which I’m pretty sure is an F sharp minor, which I play with my thumb, but there is probably a better way to do it. I would write a tab, but I think it would be harder than it was to relearn the song for this video clip.

Denver musician Madeline Johnston records what she calls “heaven metal” under the name Midwife. Her album Forever, out in April via the Flenser, is dedicated to Colin Ward, her former roommate at Denver DIY space Rhinoceropolis, who died in 2018. In a press release, Johnston explains, “He was my roommate and was the embodiment of that place in a lot of ways. We became really close friends there. I was always learning so much from him, about life and being an artist. He was an amazing teacher and friend to me.”
