Wow this week has been super productive!
Check out the dynamic camera system I’ve been building! It can switch from static shots to tracking shots (like following the cat) to following the player and moving slightly ahead of them to give a better view of what you’re walking towards.
And they all transition together so smoothly!
This week I also played around with composing music for the main game and Lo-Boy, finally started adding sound effects to bowling and dialogue boxes, and added more vibration support for bowling.
It feels really nice when the controller rumbles when the bowling ball hits the lane and rumbles harder when it hits the pins. The rumble strength depends on how much power you throw the ball with, so it’s just another way of making the game feel more gratifying even if the player doesn’t notice.
Soundtrack preview! Theme of Finch!
CleanerAi: Pathfinding Engine for Clickteam Fusion 2.5
As promised here’s my example on how to implement pathfinding in a top-down game where the player is constantly moving. I personally searched for a long time to find something similar but the few pathfinding examples i found were for tile based movements and set positions.
So after finding some different examples and reading more I sat down one day and created CleanerAi. Looking quite simple, it’s a solid foundation for you to tweak and change to suit your game.
In this example you also have a Line-of-Sight system that I use to trigger reactions (in my case, shooting). These two systems merged together allows you to handle different reactions quite smoothly.
(PS: I tried to Clean up the code as much as possible, but this was lifted straight out of House Cleaner so excuse any legacy code/values and weird Flag usage you find)
Engine: Clickteam Fusion 2.5
Extensions: Pathfinding Object, Advanced Direction object.
A big chunk of this was made by the user Erkabubben a long time ago, so a big shout out to him for laying the Foundation.
