Ugh, I've been upset about Paige's elimination since you predicted it. I had my fingers crossed she'd get top 5 at least, but the last music video challenge did make her elimination p obvious, like you said. Bummer. Also, I hope Tash is Clark'd. The twin drama is boooring.

Yeah, I’m okay. Haha. I’ve just been giving more time to my friends, because I haven’t made any time for them in quite a while. I’m on a mini-hiatus from this blog at the moment. I meant to make a post about it two weeks ago, but I forgot. Haha.

I always though Jay knew about drama at the house. Is that incorrect, do you think? Or maybe the producers give him certain questions to ask or comments to make that will evoke drama?

Well, he interacts with the girls much more than the judges do, so he gets more of a feel for them on a personal level. I imagine he can figure out most of the house drama going on (like who’s in a fight with who) simply because the girls usually carry that with them to the photoshoot. If he notices a girl is acting off in a shoot, he’ll ask why and it will prompt them to talk about their drama. He doesn’t necessarily need to already know what’s going on to ask questions like that.

Oh, I'm also curious to hear your thoughts on Christina this cycle, because the way she is treated by the judges makes me so mad!! They are always saying she comes off as cold and boring, but I don't think she is. And, when you see her with the other girls at the house, she seems very friendly and fun.

Most of the things the judges said this cycle didn’t make sense, so that doesn’t surprise me. Haha. It’s probably because she doesn’t create drama for the reality show aspect.

I think Amanda (3) may have actually been the first to get her hair bleached. I *think* Shandi was lighted up with highlights, as opposed to actually bleached, but I may be remembering incorrectly. How did you find out about the edited first call-outs in the alien shoot? I always like hearing about the edits/what actually happens during filming, I think it's really interesting.

Maybe, I don’t really remember the method they used on Shandi, but Amanda was definitely bleached, so Michelle wasn’t the first.

It’s apparently common knowledge now, as it’s even on the Cycle 4 Wikipedia page. But you can tell without that too, because when Tiffany goes up to get her photo in panel, Kahlen is already mysteriously gone from the line-up (despite being shown in the line like 3 seconds beforehand), but everyone else is still there. They also made very sure not to show the line-up of the girls who are still in the competition, which made me know something was up.

You're right about pre-determined winners. I like hearing your thoughts, especially regarding the editing! I was still surprised by Lisa's elimination, even with Bre moving into the villain slot. Aside from Jayla's confession where she really creepily talks about how much she hates Nik, Jayla didn't cause a lot of drama, so I was surprised they kept her. But you bring up a good point about the villain character changing..I didn't consider that.

I think Jayla’s confession about Nik (which I haven’t rewatched yet) probably solidified a rivalry that the producers could use if they chose. When you think about it, there was no rivalry between Lisa and the other contestants. They were mostly just annoyed by each other. Rivalries make for more interesting tv, so Lisa had to be the one to go from a reality tv perspective. I think they chose to keep Bre over Lisa because they could see that she was easier to push than Lisa was (due to her heavily stressed state).

I agree with you on Cassandra's hair. I feel like she was upset because she knew her hair was being cut just to get under her skin. Idk, it's billed like "she quit over an inch of hair," but I think it was because she understood that they were trying to cut her hair/give her a different style just to ruffle her feathers. I think they thought she could be another Catie (c2 - similar meltdown). That said, Cassandra's edit does crack me up. "Is it hip? Is it mod?"

Yes. I agree that they were trying to make her a Catie repeat, but it didn’t work. They even gave her the same haircut. The thing is that although Cassandra didn’t want to cut her hair, she went along with it almost immediately and did her best to work it the way they wanted her to. The second haircut was obviously only pitched to get her pissed off and incite the reaction that originally wanted from her.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Lisa's elimination this cycle. I think that she was eliminated bc of her drinking problem. It wasn't highlighted in that ep as much as in others (if I remember correctly), but the judges liked her photo that week and then cut her. I always suspected that there was a different reason she was ousted and I think it could have been her drinking, since that had been a focal point, but maybe there was something else that wasn't aired. What do you think?

I think her elimination, from what I remember, had more to do with her outlasting her storyline. ANTM plans the winner in the audition phases (as nearly all reality competition shows do), so it’s not like the contestants do anything to “earn” their win other than the act of actually choosing to go along with the competition. There is one cycle where I can pretty much guarantee you that the planned winner did not win, and I’m sure you all know which one I’m talking about. I think Lisa was eliminated because the producers didn’t need her anymore. Lisa was the sole source of drama for nearly the entire cycle, but then they started shifting Bre into the role of the villain, so there was no need for Lisa anymore.
