Luisa’s Diary
Father and Mama are sending me to high school. Since Father can afford it and I’ve done my time at public school, I am attending a girls’ private Catholic school called Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Father said some of my friends from elementary school would be attending, and that I would meet new friends. I feel fortunate that I get to continue my education, and at such a prestigious institution, too!
I dressed in my uniform ready for the first day— a pleated skirt, blouse, and vest. Then I set off with my schoolbag to walk to Perpetual Help, hoping that the nuns were nice. Sister Clementine is our homeroom teacher. I was pleasantly surprised to see my friend Monica in the seat next to mine. I am learning a lot and have so many classes— history, religion, natural sciences, literature, algebra, and even Latin!
