OC Fact Swap! Nyvera broke her finger while showing off to some other kids when she was about nine. In a rather impressive display of stubborn pride, she 100% pretended she hadn't broken it, and as such refused to see a healer. It healed eventually, but it is a teeny bit crooked when she straightens it. <3
aaaaaaAAAAAAHHHH NYV NO!! Oh that must have been so painful, like badass, but Nyyyyyyyv omg, that’s such a bad idea haha! Thank you for the ask <3 :)
Maedhra has broken pretty much every single bone in her body at some point, but of particular note is a moment when a hammer swing from an enemy bandit shattered every bone in her right hand. She fought through the pain, wielding her greatsword with surprising deftness one-handed, but as soon as the battle was done her composure crumbled. Unable to think through the frankly excruciating pain, Maedhra just walked up to the captain of the squad, held up her ruined hand, and started sobbing.
Sure, thank you for the ask! :) I’ll do this for Mae to Evelyn, I think! So, Mae would kiss Evelyn…
…on the forehead, because in an AU where she romances Charles, she thinks of Evelyn as an exceedingly intimidating older sister.
…on the cheek because she likes to think of all of Charles’s family as her friends, even if it’s not necessarily true, and she would try her best to be friendly with Evelyn.
…over the wrist because Mae would think of Evelyn as very beautiful, and admire her hair styling and make-up skills.
…and on the fingertips because Maedhra does care about Evelyn, and would want to see her happy and content with all her heart. :)
What iiiif Maedhra joined the Inquisition as a companion when Darenan became Herald?? :D
Ah yay I love Maedhra!Oh man well considering Darenan is almost Maedhra’s polar opposite in terms of personality it would be interesting, but Darenan is also fiercely protective of her clan and would no doubt fall into absolute mom friend mode in no time. I think they’d eventually get along very well, that whole opposites attract in terms of friendship and Darenan would probably end up trusting Mae more than the other companions.
send me a ‘what if’ and a scenario involving my oc + your oc if you like and i’d tell you my OC’s reaction
For the "Let's talk OCs" meme! So, I think that Hanin and Kosta would get along pretty well, given their feelings about family/responsibility (at least, they would probably see eye to eye on the heart of the matter - they might disagree on other aspects of course!). I could also definitely see Mae and Varlen getting up to Extreme Nonsense(TM)! It's like regular nonsense... but /extreme/. ;)
Ahh, thanks for the ask!
Hmm, I agree with you! Kosta would definitely share Hanin’s feelings about duty, and would appreciate the presence of another who recognized that there is honor, even pride, in acting in service to those one cares about. :) They probably would diverge on a couple points (like I could see Hanin being ‘/:’ about Kosta demanding a wage for saving the world), but they’re both mature enough to be friends despite their different views. Kosta would definitely appreciate his company, and spar with him on a regular basis (bc as a Knight Enchanter, Kosta usually ends up in the thick of it, so he likes to practice his melee skills :D)
Also, yes. Mae and Varlen seem like the types where one of them would say, “I don’t think this is a good idea…” and the other would be like “You’re right…it’s the best idea!” & then they’d high-five and do something inadvisable. Honestly, they would be a nightmare for any responsible authority figure: making a huge mess of things, then pulling out puppy eyes and adorable smiles to avoid punishment. The nonsense level would be off the charts. :)
Sure!! (Note: I love Marles so much, Maedhra definitely called their unborn child that above all protests haha). <3 Setting this in the modern AU, bc Mae would probably look cute as ever in one of Charles’s formal shirts. :)
There were women who woke with songs in their hearts, who greeted the new day with a smile bright enough to make the sun jealous and words kind enough to make flowers bloom. And then, there was Maedhra.
Her golden eyes gave the world a bleary glare from between her matted orange curls as she went through the motions of dressing for the day with all the enthusiasm of the undead. “Cold, cold, cold, cold,” the redhead mumbled to herself as she struggled mightily with a pair of bright pink panties. Just as she was lowering one foot through the underwear, her heel slipped on a discarded article of clothing, and she stumbled against the edge of the bed. She leaned where she was for a moment, ignoring the urge to flop back onto the welcoming blankets only through a supreme force of will. With her underwear firmly on, Maedhra staggered to a standing position, blearily glancing around the room.
“Shirt,” she muttered as she shuffled towards the closet she and Charles shared. Her fingers trailed along the long line of shirts hung up on the rack, and she pulled the first soft one she felt off its hangar, pulling it on. The formal shirt was ridiculously large on Mae; the tails of the shirt hung down to her mid-calf, and the sleeves fell a good inch from the ends of her fingertips. Rather than consider the size difference, Maedhra simply fumbled with a few of the buttons in a half-hearted attempt at decency. She gave up after managing two buttons, leaving the majority of the freckled expanse of her torso revealed. “Stupid buttons.” She declared with a scowl as she shambled towards the bedroom door.
“Coffee, coffee, coffee…” Mae chanted as she made her way to the kitchen step by plodding step. The light from the kitchen window seemed blindingly bright to her underexposed eyes; she lifted a hand to shield them, guided by the delicious smell of roasting beans to the coffee machine. Still blinded, she groped a hand towards the machine. “Coff – ” The syllable stuttered into shocked silence as the handle of a mug slipped into her hand. Mae experimentally held the mug to her lips and took a sip. When the perfectly lukewarm liquid hit her tongue, she hummed her pleasure; the coffee had three sugars and a full cup of cream, just how she liked it.
It took three more gulps of coffee for her brain to kick fully into gear, whereupon she looked up to see Charles regarding her with an expression that crossed affectionate and amused. He was clearly dressed for work, freshly shaved in a neatly pressed suit, but he was here, which was rare. Maedhra recovered from her shock quickly, placing her coffee on the counter and rushing over to wrap her arms around him. “Charlie!!” She exclaimed, squeezing him tight for a moment. “Thank you thank you for the coffee.” She punctuated her thank yous with kisses to the cheek, smiling brightly before she rocked back on her heels, arms still loosely wound around his hips. “And good morning!”
“Good morning, Maedhra.” Charles said with a slight grin, before he leaned down to catch her lips in another, brief kiss. His hands settled on her waist as he pulled her closer, and for a moment they merely stood there, wrapped in themselves and the early morning sunlight. Maedhra sighed happily as he pulled away, slowly opening her eyes to find Charles staring down at her with a kind of lightness to his dark blue eyes, one side of his mouth pulled up. “Mae…” He said slowly, “is that my shirt?” There was something off in the usual evenness of his voice, a huskiness that tugged at Maedhra’s attention.
Maedhra glanced down at herself quizzically, then jumped a little when she saw that she was indeed wearing one of Charles’s shirts. To make matters worse, she wasn’t wearing any old t-shirt; no, she’d chosen the nice, formal shirts that he usually wore when he was lawyering, which were definitely not made to be half-worn by drowsy girlfriends. “Oh! Yes. Sorry! That happens, sometimes.”
Both of Charles’s eyebrows quirked up as his gaze turned considering. “You…often wear my shirts in the morning?” He asked; Maedhra couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something she was missing, in the way the edges of his mouth lifted upwards and he lifted a hand to trace his thumb along the curve of her cheek, but she had only had three sips of coffee and higher cognitive reasoning still lay a little beyond her reach.
“Er. Yes. Maybe? Yes.” Maedhra admitted with a troubled frown, leaning thoughtlessly into the warm cup of his hand. “I shouldn’t, I know, because I have pajamas, but it gets so hot at night and so cold in the morning and you have so many of the shirts and they all smell like you and I thought maybe you wouldn’t mi – ” His lips cut off the rest of her explanation, stealing whatever breath she had in her lungs and whatever words words she had on her tongue. He kissed her hard but held her steady, swallowing her gasps and pressing her in close, until she forgot everything but the press of their bodies and the bittersweet taste of coffee on his tongue.
When Charles broke away, Maedhra swayed a little. Her feet felt unsteady, her knees weak, mind still spinning around Charles and his soft lips and pink tongue. “Oh,” she murmured, dazed. In one neat movement, Charles gathered her in his arms bridal-style and strode quickly towards the hallway. “Oh! Oh wait!” Maedhra wound one arm around his neck instinctively to steady herself. She lifted her other hand to tilt Charles’s chin towards her, so that their gazes met. “You have work today!”
He leaned down to kiss her briefly before he turned his eyes forward, mounting the steps to the second floor at speed. “I can be a little late.” He said with a calm certainty that made Maedhra smile, despite herself.
“It won’t be ‘a little’.” Mae said, mocking his certainty playfully as her fingers wandered down his torso, first unbuttoning his suit jacket, then starting on the shirt.
Maedhra caught the edge of Charles’s smile, and felt his grip on her tighten. “I can live with that.”
