A little birdie gave me the idea to write a pick-me-up ficlet for one more person today. And I was happy to do it, since it’s so important for writers to feel love. ❤️ This one is for you @mae-jones! (Hopefully someone else can tag her lol)
“John,” Sherlock began slowly. “You’ve had an impressive history of therapy in recent years. Perhaps you have an opinion on this topic.”
John purses his lips. “Keep in mind when judging my impressive history that some of that therapy was with your sister, but yeah, go on.”
“I do concede that I am not in fact a sociopath, as I have said in the past, but...what about narcissism?”
John frowned. “Wanna be more specific?”
Sherlock sighed. “What if, for instance, I sometimes...read about myself?”
John tilted his head in thought. “I guess it might depend on what type of reading material. What kind of stuff are we talking about?”
Sherlock paused, his hands poised at his lips, clearly hesitant. Finally he opened his mouth.
“Fine. John, go to archive of our own dot org on your mobile, though fanfiction dot net would do as well.”
He waited for John to comply.
“Right. So now we can do a person search. Let’s see, how about... Maejones.”
There was silence for a moment as John did what he was asked and stayed focused on the screen.
“I...see,” He finally stated slowly, then looked back at Sherlock. “Quite a lot about you and Molly here.”
“Yes, obviously,” Sherlock agreed. “So now what would you say?”
He glanced back at the list of fan fiction. “Well I dunno. Did you...want me to read any?”
Sherlock’s expression instantly shifted. “Nope, no, that’s not necessary, never mind.”
“Look, I’m just thinking if I read some maybe I’d be able to tell you whether-“
“No, I said no!” Sherlock grabbed John’s phone from his hand, closing the browser screen. “Forget I asked, I no longer care if I’m narcissistic or not!”
He marched off angrily, leaving John chuckling in amusement. Once Sherlock was out of the room he picked his mobile up again.
HEY, MARY, I THINK YOU SHOULD GO ON ARCHIVE OF OUR OWN DOT ORG AND LOOK UP MAEJONES. -JW
LOL! -MW
WHATS SO FUNNY? -JW
I ALREADY DID. -MW
WAIT...YOU DID?? -JW
MMHM. MOLLY TOLD ME TO LAST WEEK. ;)) -MW
"I thought attraction was just a simple matter of science and easily disregarded," Sherlock rasped as he clutched Molly closer and thrust upwards, "then i met you . . . h-huh, god, I was so wrong very about that."
so wrong very about that
For @mae-jones : for her wonderful fic “I Demand You Speak”
Excerpt from Chapter 1: “Well, the scent is quite … pleasant,” he spoke in a deep baritone, “but, also your nails are short and well-kept, exactly what I would expect of a prospective doctor. Your frame, while diminutive, is not malnourished. Your speech and enunciation reinforces your assertion that you are educated. Finally, I am an expert at detecting deception in a person’s tone.” Unexpectedly, she felt one of his long, elegant fingers caress her neck just over her voice box. “Speak,” he commanded in a rough voice. “Wh-What do you want me to say?” She stammered. “That will suffice,” his nostrils flared. “Your tone is very pure. I would say that you are, in fact, incapable of deceit.”
^^ Thanks again for the wonderful fic (IN YOUR HANDS) you made for me! *hugs*
