The fact that Lune yells at Verso that "it wasn't an 'either / or' situation and we could've found another way if you trusted us" and Verso does go along with Maelicia's plan and you get excited and shit and then this fuckin game smacks you over the head with the worst "either / or " situation I've experienced in years...

Another Clair Obscur HC/Theory time, cause this game lives in my head rent free and I do be pondering

So according to the canon lore pieces, those who are aware of the Canvas world, have white hair. Or their hair turns white after they become aware. Verso states that his hair turned white after the Fracture. Presumably, after Clea told them the truth when they faced her with Expedition 0

But here's what's interesting. Why do the people have different SHADES of white/ grey hair? Cause It's a whole spectrum if you think about it. Like hear me out:

P!Alicia P!Verso have like WHITE WHITE hair. No pigment. Yes Verso dyes his hair but you do get his white haired version in the game. P!Clea has a little grey tone but still mostly white.

Meanwhile, Maelicia's hair is darker ashy tone of gray, Paintress hair is dirty blonde kinda white and P!Renoir (being called white-haired lmao); his hair is barely even white. It's dark ash gray.

So I was thinking over here and could it possibly be that the more AWARE you are and the more accepting of the Canvas not being real and your existence being fleeing, the purer (Clair) your hair is? Cause if I had to rank these people on their delulu, P!Renoir is def last, then Maelicia, then the Paintress and P!Clea being brainwashed but still remembering somewhat. Meanwhile, Simon who supposedly knows the truth from Clea but his mind is corrupted beyond any recognition of his surroundings keeps his dark hair.
