The Bujin archetype takes a very unique approach when compared to many other builds. Instead of swarming the field to overwhelm the opponent as well gather materials, Bujin instead tries to play with atleast one member and power them up as much as possible with all sorts of abilities. Said effects will come from the Bujingi, monsters with hand and graveyard effects ready to answer any kind of threat. So regardless of controlling a basic Bujin or a single one of their Xyz Monsters, it will easily become a one-man army with all the support provided by their allies.
"Bujingi Raven" goes out of the protective purpose of most Bujingis to instead provide a vengeful effect towards the worst scenarios. If a Bujin we own is defeated in battle, "Raven" can be sent to the Graveyard in response and destroy the enemy that destroyed our Bujin. "Raven" might be easily overshadowed by other members as they try to avoid any losses instead of answer against them, but nonetheless "Raven" is a solid choice even if we have to use it during our turn.
In an archetype that completely relies on hand and Graveyard effects to keep the Bujins on the field steady, is obvious that "Raven" and the rest of members will have dependable searching options to be available as fast as possible. "Bujin Yamato" is the main star of the build for all kinds of purposes including its searching effect, allowing us to look for "Raven" during the End Phase as we dispose of Bujins with Graveyard effects in the process. "Bujingi Peacock" instead will send itself to the Graveyard from our hand to look for "Raven". While the Xyz "Bujintei Susanowo" will use its materials to search for "Raven". "Bijingi Pavo" takes a different approach yet similar to "Raven" effect, as once we lose a Bujin in battle we will be able to summon "Raven" in return which we could use as material if needed. Although most Bujingis will have a brief moment due using their effects it won't be over, as "Bujincarnation" can revive "Raven" along a banished Bujin to use them as materials, while "Bujin Regalia - The Sword" can bring it back to our hand to reuse its effect.
The purpose of "Raven" is pretty straightforward. With cards like "Bujingi Turtle" and "Bujingi Hare" protecting our main Bujins from most effects, there's a higher chance for the opponent to enter into battle to defeat our monsters. That's where "Raven" enters into action, discarding itself to deal with the monster that destroyed our Bujin. However, due the premise of the archetype is to make members like "Bujin Yamato" and "Bujintei Susanowo" nearly invincible, we can use other monsters to declare suicidal attacks so we can clear a path with "Raven" effect. The uses of "Raven" can be mixed with other purposes excluding being used as material, as "Bujin Mikazuchi" can responde to its effect by looking for a Spell or Trap, or "Bujin Hirume" banishing it from the Graveyard for its own Special Summon.
"Bujingi Raven" has a very good purpose, but unfortunately is in the wrong archetype to remain effective in most Duels. Bujins is all about keeping their best monsters alive against all sorts of threats thanks to effects like "Bujingi Crane" and "Bujingi Hare", whereas "Raven" role is after losing them during a battle. "Raven" can still remain effective along our weakest monsters to clear the field if needed or to bait certain attacks, but we could instead play simpler removal effects to obtain similar results. With all the searching options arround the archetype as well working as material if needed "Raven" is far from being a completely situational card to depend on, but compared to the rest of Bujins there are better options to keep a strong field instead of waiting for the worst.
+ Sends itself from the hand to the graveyard to destroy a monster which defeated a Bujin in battle
+ Well supported
+ We can declare suicidal attacks to clear the field with its effect
- There are better options arround the archetype without needing to lose a Bujin
- Slightly situational
