Don’t think I’ll ever get over Jon’s “discredited” section that he mentioned in the first episode. Like, what did you do exactly to discredit it? Literally nothing. You just sat there and called it bullshit. You didn’t do anything whatsoever to actually discredit it. “I said it’s not real and so it shan’t be” that’s what he sounds like. Unbelievable. Who hired you? Academic institution my ass.

so I was mentally writing an essay on the smoking-kills-themes in TMA (as you do) and realized that the anglerfish has like, a lot of web vibes between the whole cigarette thing and the puppet imagery and now I'm wondering what the fandom thinks...

is the anglerfish

entirely and solely of the stranger

of the stranger but the web has its threads in it

a stranger/web mix

entirely web but hands its victims off to the stranger once its done with them

MAG 1 - Angler Fish

A while back during one of my re-listens of TMA, I started trying to collect a quote from every episode, in the hopes I'd eventually have a small piece of art for all 200.

Now that I'm doing digital art and feel that my art-style has improved since the original sketches, I want to digitalize and update all the pieces I did and hopefully add some new ones as well.

I did a background practice but it turned into a TMA piece.

-"They didn’t come closer, didn’t make any movement at all except for that damn swaying. For some reason the thought of an anglerfish popped into my head, the single point of light dangled into the darkness, hiding the thing that lures you in.

I do love me a good first episode and I must say that out of many shows that I watched MAG 001 is one of my favs.

But maybe I'm just biased

In reading the statement he locks himself onto the path to his own destruction but also to becoming the figure in the shadows waiting to ask a question. He will lure you in, unassuming, and then it’s too late. The anglerfish goes after smokers, like Jon, and becoming an avatar functions as an addiction metaphor… what a podcast
