Something that I noticed recently while listening to some random TMA episodes is that Jon only does things if he thinks they'll make a difference.
I know, why would anyone do something if they didn’t think it would make a difference? What I mean is, where other characters might do things that they know almost definitely won’t help Jon doesn’t even bother to try.
In MAG 39, when Tim comes back from lunch Sasha and Martin are yelling to him to look around, but Jon doesn’t bother, he knows the room is soundproof.
In MAG 118, Jon doesn’t bother to try to help the victims in the Unknowing, because there’s not really any way that he could help them.
In MAG 178, this is where I really noticed it, Martin keeps trying to talk to the victims of the domain, but Jon keeps telling him not to bother because they aren’t aware of them.
There probably some instances where he will do something that he knows won’t have any affects, but I don’t remember.
I’m not really going somewhere with this, just that it's an interesting character trait.
TMA What We Know -[178]- The Processing Line
-this domain's autogenerating 99/100 of the people here. just to fill space
-Martin still wants Jon to kill avatars
-everyone's still being mean to Jon :(
~domain description~
-these guys are in the infinite bureaucracy of a human meat processing line
--end of description--
-Jon heads back to Martin and Basira and they're out here gossiping about him
-they found another body of someone Daisy killed
-Basira really doesn't like that they're acknowledging that Daisy kills people
-they have a heart to heart about how they feel about Daisy
-Basira accepts that she'll have to kill Daisy
-Daisy's canonically out there having a great time being a Fear Creature
….its been a hot sec. But welcome back to “new fan listens to TMA S5, mostly blind!” In ur host, the “new fan” quote en quote.
MAG 175: Epoch
Ooo. Yeah this hits pretty hard in this day and age. I think The Extinction is high on my ranking of “which entities would fuck me up the most”. I think anon can’t process everything. I also think it’s funny he can’t answer most stuff despite being Y’know google. I guess it’s hard.
MAG 176: Blood Ties
FUCKING TREVOR??? I thought he died the moment Not-Sasha went after him and Julia. I guess he’s dead now.
Poor Martin. Bro just wants to be in the loop of things but that doesn’t matter because BASIRAAAA. I never thought I’d be so happy to hear that voice.
It’s so interesting that she’s still chasing after Daisy. Is she some avatar of The Hunt? They never say it but istg, Basira has these obsessive tendencies that scream The Hunt. I’m just obsessed. With her.
Sounds like Daisy is a wolf now. Go fursona
MAG 177: Wonderland
So I’ve heard this episode thrown around vaguely and heard about Dr David, who was sone gaslighting doctor but I never really paid attention. But guys holy shit I cannot stress to you all enough on how terrified I was. I was circling my kitchen island and grabbing water every 10 seconds. Something about this freaked me out. The second-person, the way Dr David belittled and threatened and his cherry attitude I hated it. I was shrieking.
But also Helen!!!! <33 I wonder what’s her game, offering Basira a one-way ride to Daisy. It certainly wasn’t out of the kindness of her own heart. Did she want to trap Basira maybe in her hallways? Or did she know Basira would decline and wanted to sow a little seed of distrust in the now trio. I wonder why Basira declined. I thought she would totally abandon Jon and Martin. Either way, crazy episode.
MAG 178: The Processing Line
Oh this was depressing. I liked how Martin and Basira made Jon go into the tool closet, I thought that was funny. But damn…Tyler :(((
I also think it’s crazy that people were just…created. The entities can do that?? Just make life?? Or reflections or whatever. Is there no limit? Sorry for all these rhetorical questions, I just have many of them
Also! At one point, Basira asked who is in charge here and Jon said, “Not anyone you’re familiar with. We won’t be meeting them.” And “he’s in the, uh… Main Processing Room.” So now I’m thinking about who could it be. There was a statement about a guy who worked at a slaughterhouse (MAG 30) and Tom Hann was always a big name for The Flesh. I can’t remember if he died though. If he didn’t, then he could be in charge of this factory. I’m just theorizing though.
Okay. That’s everything. Uhhhhhh I have been really not listening but it’s not that I lost interest. I’ve been so busy and this season is just a lot. But thanks for reading my rambles
mag 177 - "and you always somehow manage to smell bad" please this line was so funny it pulled me right out of the horror of this episode lol
mag 178 - man I really hate the flesh statements, body horror is my least favorite form of horror
oh yeah I'm absolutely going to throw up during a flesh statement one of these times I really hate them
mag 182 - oh I've finally made it to the horrible medical malpractice episode I've seen people talk about. we'll see if I get through it. see you on the other side boys o7
No but after EVERYTHING Jon has been through... learning that THIS is what scared him the most???
Not Not-Sasha.
Not literally having his autonomy taken from him and forced to end the world.
Not being stabbed, beaten, burned, kidnapped, worms burrowing into his skin, or almost being skinned by Nikola.
It was Daisy, looking at him with hate in her eyes and the brandishing of a knife at his throat threatening to kill him because all she saw was another monster...
And yet, Jon still jumped in the Coffin after her, risking his life to pull her out. Them finding common ground and something even resembling a friendship, even as that day in the woods still lingered in both their pasts?
Fucks me up Every. Single. Time. 😭😭😭😭
It really is a gut punch
Makes relistening to their whole relationship's story arc that much more potent

MAG 178 - The Processing Line
This whole situation with Daisy is just sad and there’s no winning for anyone in this situation. Basira hopes that maybe she’ll save people if she kills Daisy or put an end to her suffering, but neither of those are the case. There’s just no going back for Daisy and Basira has to kill her because she promised her she would. At least she acknowledged that what she and Daisy were doing was bad.
Jon saying that he was most terrified when Daisy almost killed him, ugh, it just broke my heart. He was so scared of her, but he went into the Buried to save her anyway, and she understood what he was going through better than anyone else. It’s all just sad.
