MAG 76 (The Smell of Blood) is SUCH an underrated episode imo. We have SO much here:

- Expansion upon TMA-verse ghost lore

- Melanie laying out her revelation about how her former colleagues only ever investigated “safe” hauntings (and how earth-shattering that revelation was for her!)

- The absolute BANGER of a line “It was like once I had seen that there was a path to stray from, I couldn’t unsee it. And I couldn’t ignore the call from the woods all around.”

- Jon’s audibly offended “Yes, I know what a meme is”

- Melanie and Jon’s dynamic at its best (finishing each other’s sentences while talking excitedly about the paranormal)

--STATEMENT--

-Ghost Hunt UK split up

-Melanie did a little Breaking and Entering :) she should bond with Jon over that

-Melanie's looking into cool haunting spots

-Melanie's gonna go investigate things that the ghost hunting community has decided not to go to

-honestly. Melanie's so smart. we all underestimate how smart she is. she's doing some really solid research here.

-Melanie's going to a spooky train car

-train car is full of blood

-there's a dead body. dead body's in pain. dead bodies aren't supposed to do that.

-some ghost keeps stabbing the body

-Stabbing Ghost stabs Melanie with a scalpel

-Jon knows what a meme is :D

-Melanie found the specific train car via serial number. the train car crashed and killed a bunch of people

post-statement:

-Melanie is SO SMART. her research is so impressive. even Jon's excited about it.

-Melanie's going to India to investigate war ghosts

-Melanie wants to say goodbye to Sasha, which would be difficult because Sasha's dead :( but notSasha is here and available to accept any and all goodbyes :)

Holy shit the amount of stuff that just went down. First off hiiii Melanie ☺️💖 👋 hiiiii 👋 hiiiiii 👋 glad your survived a ghost attack worried about youuuuuu stay safe in indiaaaaaaa

Second off, Jonathan Sims knows what a meme is, I repeat, Jonathan Sims knows what a meme is.

Third, William H. May. Could be a name we’ve heard before, since the Archives have unexpurgated copies of his memoirs and such. It’s just generic enough that it feels familiar if that makes sense.

Fourth, HOLY SHIT DIRECT FUCKING BLOW AGAINST NOT!SASHA DELIVERED BY MELANIE FUCKING KING YOU QUEEN! HOLY SHIT!

I’m giving this episode an 8 nasty scapel scars out of 10 haunted old rail cars, would be ostracized by the ghost hunting community again.

I can’t wait for what Sims finds out!
