miles essentially got beaten up and tortured while breaking his ribs in the process, endured the evils of an organization's institute while trying to record evidence and people's stories, became attached to said recorder for safety, is haunted by 'static', and becomes the host of the antichrist that was formed by the asylum. waylon works for murkoff under his "supervisor's supervisor" who is an insane, capitalistic asshole and the head of the institution that is trying to keep him under control. waylon also ends up enduring similar horrors that miles underwent throughout the facility while recording evidence. his fear feeds the apathy he develops and his desire for the entire place to be burned/destroyed, still barely grasping his will to live but willing to sacrifice for his loved ones.
