MAGEFISH || ORIGINAL RUIKASA AU 🎈🌟
WORLD BUILDING
Long ago, and I meant thousands of years ago, when the world was filled with exotic creatures, magical spells & witchcraft, and just people trying to survive in this world. there were no dynasties, no technologies, just a chaotic world.
Because magical creatures and human lived together in this world, they HATE each other. the critters would sometimes destroy buildings, pull tricks up their sleeves or evade the humans' territory. on the other hand, humans haunt these "beasts" (in their words) for money, luxury or even cook and eat them. so, the two factions begin to keep their distance to avoid any major conflict happening.
There are multiple kingdoms and multiple creatures but I will be focusing on the Dark Kingdom and the Siren Kingdom since the other kingdoms are far too much to write and pretty much side characters.
CHARACTERS
Rui Kamishiro (AKA: I will be referring to as mage)
Mage is based on two cards, White Day and Alchemist. He works for the Dark Kingdom (still unnamed kingdom, i need to come up with a name) as an alchemist and the leading doctor for the imperial knights. He makes medication out of herbs and plants, but he is also a cold blood assassin tasked to kill certain "important" people who stand against the imperial knights' way.
He loves experimenting and looking for herbs, he often gets so distracted that he didn't realize time was passing THAT fast. The reason he was appointed as an assassin is because of his unknown black magic. He started working for the imperial knights just to get the bag, as his family was always poor and he needed to support his family, he also wanted to learn how to control his magic at a young age. He didn't tell his parents that he's an assassin though, he is too guilty to share that.
Tsukasa Tenma (AKA: fishkasa)
Fishkasa is based on one card, idolkasa (DONT ASK ME WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS DESIGN.) He is a siren, a sea creature who lures people with the sound of their beautiful voices. Weirdly, he's built differently from the others and finds humans really interesting. He's one curious critter, he'd do anything to meet with a human (who doesn't want to kill him). He always heard about these bad rumors about these humans, yet he still has faith that there might be good people out there.
Since hes a siren, he can transform into a "human"! well.. almost. Since he doesn't go haunting humans often and he's always in his siren form, his fins and scales still appear in his "human" form; anddd he doesn't know how to walk.
He has been captured by pirates and hunters multiple times before because of his naivety. He formed a trauma around fish nets because of that reason. He's still hopeful though, such a strong mentality! Sirens have their own language so he has difficulties speaking the human language. He can write in runes and later on, learns sign language to communicate with humans.
MAIN PLOT
Rui was finished with his royal work and he has been eyeing on a restricted forest for a LOOOONG time. "What if there's rare herbs or plants there?", he thinks. Since he has nothing better to do, he sneakily went into the forest since he's a small guy and immediately went to look for herbs. he spent... hours there since he's easily distracted as i said </3 . Then he heard a ruffling sound from behind, and a squeal-?
"HELP!"
Someone needed help! Rui rushes through the trees and sees a siren, trapped in a tight net. he looked injured too. He quickly took a dagger from his bag and quickly cut the ropes of the net. he lets him free but it turns out, he was BADLY injured, scratches and some blue blood dripping out from open wounds too. the siren reached out to the alchemist, his arms wrapped around him with a faint call,
"t-t... t-take me.. home."
the siren faints in his arms, and Rui is just thinking, "what just happened?". A few minutes later, he realized he's in the middle of nowhere. who knows how many minutes or hours spent trying to get home WHILE carrying an unconscious siren in his arms AND then trying to hide the siren from people. (Psst... He also lives in a watchtower so imagine him carrying the 6ft siren upstairs, he probably used his magic to carry him anyway.)
Tsukasa woke up but, he was tied to a pole while he was in a bathtub filled with water. He also noticed he was treated with patches of cloth and bandages, also a feeling of medical herbs; no wonder he was feeling something that was stinging his body. Coincidentally, the man who saved him also arrived, the siren can't help but feel slightly uneasy due to the man towering over him.
"calm down, I'm not going to hurt you."
"— and don't move! you need some rest first..."
Damn, he read his mind. Was he too expressive? Or was the man just good at reading faces? Tsukasa was really hesitant to trust him. after all, he was tied up but also treated with care... That man was giving him mixed signals.
The distrustful yet confused look on the siren's face piqued Rui's interest. The reason why he's all tied up was in case if he wakes up with hostility, he wouldn't pounce on the alchemist and attack him. It turns out the siren was just confused, unlike any creature he met before. So Rui approaches the siren and carefully unties the ropes. The critter was surprised, yet he took a sigh of relief.
"Sorry I had to tie you up like this... Just in case you were err.. dangerous.?"
There was a moment of awkward silence before the creature began to speak,
"Den,, ger... I-I'm not danger— danger-yus"
His voice was, not really Rui expected. It was warm, deep and captivating; well, he was a siren after all and it was weirdly attracting him like it was some sort of spell. Rui shook his head and decided to ask a question,
"Well,, fellow siren, what's your name?
"I-its... Tsu,, Tsukasa."
"Tsukasa, huh?"
The siren nodded with a sparkling look in his eyes
"I'm Rui. Kamishiro Rui, pleased to meet you, Tsukasa.."
Rui gave a hand so they could shake hands. Tsukasa hesitated, but he felt that Rui's presence was... warm now, soft and welcoming unlike that weird, intimidating aura from earlier. He took his hand and shook it. They were now, acquaintances I guess. Rui wanted him to heal but also in the meantime, he wanted to study his features, since he never saw a siren this close before. (he tried before, he couldn't resist their song so he gave up finding one until Tsukasa) Tsukasa agreed as long he doesn't get hurt.
Tsukasa lived in his bathtub, it was a bit tight but he can manage since he wasn't tied up; plus it was enjoyable because Rui brings toys like a platypus and some rubber duckies. Rui takes real good care of him, feeding him proper food, talking about his day to him and telling him stories during bedtime, even if he doesn't understand the story but it's okay.
A few weeks later, Tsukasa was healed from the scratches and wounds and later transformed into a "human", which got Rui really surprised and intrigued. The alchemist has a specific notebook, what's written inside is his research about Tsukasa, his behavior, his physical features and about their cultural differences. Anyway, so Tsukasa has this human form right? The problem is... he can't stand properly. So when he tried standing up, his legs were shaking and he was about to fall until Rui realized and supported him.
Mage started teaching him how to stand and walk first before doing any physical studies or (NORMAL) experimentations. It took a few more weeks of him learning how to walk. During those weeks too, Rui taught him how to speak his language and let him practice speaking more. Thankfully, he was a fast learner and somehow he learned sign language easily too! :3
Rui also takes him to the market sometimes, so Tsukasa can learn how to buy food for himself and to get him more human interactions!! The siren unfortunately had to wear a sketchy robe with a hood because he couldn't get rid of the fins and scales... That's also where the alchemist learned his fear about butchers.
Tsukasa doesn't really go back to his kingdom just yet, he has so much to learn about the humans and can't miss the opportunity to leave Rui behind, since he learned he was lonely. Their love is slow but steady. They spend a lot of time together and Rui would show off his experiments, magic and studies to him too. Their relationship doesn't need a label at all, they only need each other.
well, mage still hides the fact he KILLS people and tries his best not to bring it up as much as possible 💔
