The “enjoying the books makes you from the Capitol” takes always astounded me because in what world would an author that writes the themes Suzanne does, encourage moralizing the content of certain books? Or discourage reading? I’m sure she wants us to maybe be cognizant of how we can act like the Capitol, but reading a book isn’t included in that

Of the Jane Austen novels do you have any opinions on any preferences Katniss, Peeta, or Haymitch may have regarding them?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Trilogy!Haymitch has Byronic hero, Colonel Brandon vibes. Maybe he’d find some hope or peace in the ending.

(I also think he’d have feelings about Persuasion.)

SOTR!Haymitch, however, is also seeing himself in a Sense and Sensibility character - unfortunately that character is Marianne Dashwood and he feels very betrayed by the author and Marianne when she a.) doesn’t die of fever and b.) goes on to marry Colonel Brandon… He’s pretty bitter about it for a while.

This is as far as I’ve gotten! What do you all think? What books are Katniss and Peeta preferring?

thank you for your ask @thesunpersists! you and @mage-chocolate both asked for a snippet from this, but i haven't made a crazy amount of progress yet. here's a little bit of what i've gotten down!

“He asked if Gale was your boyfriend,” Madge said, adding stress to the word ‘boyfriend’ like there was a more interesting word in the sentence.

“So?”

“So, he wouldn’t ask the specifics of two strangers’ relationship if he didn’t care.”

“Maybe he’s just one of those guys who likes to be in the know about everything,” Katniss responded, glancing over her friend’s shoulder to Peeta, who was chatting with Gale and Thom.

“Yeah, he likes to be in the know of the dating life of the beautiful girl he just met at a party.”

“Saw. The girl he saw at a party.”

“Fine. The beautiful girl he saw at a party.” This time, Madge added stress to the adjective she thought was most important, when Katniss knew the verb was the crucial detail of this statement. He only saw her. Maybe he liked her because he saw her, but whatever fake idea he has of her in his head would surely end once he met her.
