Made Sypha back in 2020 (oof), and finally brought her to a bigger con this year! It's a warm cosplay, but not uncomfortably so, and I can layer up as needed. Also made some updates, primarily, the skirt now has BIG POCKETS (my water bottle fit in them, very handy whilst walking round a con).

i'm thinking about going to MAGFest this year

the last time i went, it was 2009. i was a high school senior, and the trip was a sort of graduation gift. it was my first time traveling out of state unaccompanied, as well as my first time going to a convention of any kind. i made a lot of great memories there, even as an awkward little know-nothing gamer kid who wasn't old enough to drink, or really do much of anything except wander around excitedly sipping novelty sodas and playing video games

so much has changed since then... the gaming community i thought i knew in 2009 has completely transformed, and not all of the changes have been for the better. i can't even imagine how different MAGFest will be in 2023, compared to how it was in 2009.

but the thing is, i'm trying to make a change in my life. i want to get out more- go more places, do more things, and meet new people. i want to open myself up to having experiences i would normally run away from. i want to make new friends!

they say, if you want things in your life to be different, you have to change the things that you do in your life. i believe that my life can be different, if i put in the effort. so that's what i'm going to do

Home from MAGFest!

Gonna ramble for a while about MAGFest 2024, which was this past weekend! Feel free to mute the tag #MAGFest2024 if you don’t wanna see it.

I’m gonna go stream of consciousness so it probably won’t be too organized and I’m sure I’ll get some of the details wrong, so if you were there too and you’re like “hey, X didn’t play that song, Y did,” well, my bad

Anyway! Brought my bf along, and I’m wild about VGM and he knows nothing about it, but he wanted to come because he wanted to see me being excited and passionate about something and he’s just a real sweetie that way, is it any wonder why I love him? Before we went, I made sure that he at least knew what Megalovania sounds like, since it’s replaced One Winged Angel as the de facto “if you don’t have a specific theme this conflicts with, there’s a good chance you’re gonna end your set with this” song (and I’m here for it, I fucking love Megalovania, I don’t care if people think it’s overplayed, it’s super dope). We heard it 3.5 times over the weekend (one time was when Don Palombi’s Game Night played sans. but they mixed in some MV, so that’s the 0.5).

And yes, we did refer to our hotel room as the MAGFest Fag Nest 🏳️‍🌈
