Hollering at this description of Magic Alex at some pre-Apple planning meeting. John's weird little boyfriend, plotting away.
(Source: Magical mystery tours : my life with the Beatles by Tony Bramwell)
The basement at Savile Row had been used as a projection-room when Jack Hylton, the Thirties bandleader and Forties impresario, had lived there; now it would be used as a studio, which the Magician was to build. It contained two warring features: the central-heating system and oak beams. The Beatles decided to keep the beams, despite the problems of sound-proofing. ‘Alex will fix a false ceiling,’ they said, more in Utopia than in London. And the noise of the central heating? ‘We’ll switch it off when we're recording.’ Wouldn’t the staff get cold? ‘They’ll have to wear extra sweaters,’ said an unidentified voice, but Beatle for sure. It was around this time that one of The Boys declared war on Fat Legs on Female Staff. ‘They’ll have to go,’ he said. That night Richard DiLello and I moved quickly among the less anorexic secretaries: ‘Jeans or slacks tomorrow. Fat-leg purge about to begin. Pass it on.’ A Resistance Movement was growing. The Boys, with pressure on them to deliver on the early promises of Apple, were becoming grumpier.

This video actually convinced me it's Ringo!
(I'm not at all convinced that the photo at 5:22 shows Ringo, but it seems Ringo was at Neil's wedding https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/1968/08/paul-mccartney-attends-neil-aspinalls-wedding/)

Was on the phone with my mother (a lawyer) and she was telling me about a legal conference she went to where they had a lecture using Paul McCartney's lawsuit against the Beatles as an example and she asked me "have you heard of Magic Alex?"
It's like my prefrontal cortex snapped out of my body, shook me by the lapels, and screamed in my face, "DON'T BRING UP THE PENIS MACHINE!"
i love explaining magic alex to people who don't know anything about the beatles. yeah, they hung out with this greek 'inventor' who conned them out of millions of pounds by convincing them he could build force fields and flying saucers.
I think Alex wanted to be a very loyal friend to John. He wanted John's attention. There were enough men that wanted his attention at that time. It wasn't physical, it was mental. They were almost desperate, the heterosexual ones.
