I may be a tad protective of my apprentice lol no one gets away with saying her work isn't worth what she asks for it, especially her family members.
Artists often undervalue our own work. We have trouble asking for a living wage for our skills and labour.
We often only charge for materials even though we spend hours, days, weeks or even months on a project.
It takes a long time to recognize your own worth and skill and I encourage everyone, if you have an artist in the family, do not ask for their labour for free and do not undervalue them.
Good family and friends will pay what you ask and above when you undercharge on your work.
If someone doesn't value your art your art isn't for them. Move on to someone who appreciates your labour.
