Odin, god of War, Poetry, Magic and Knowledge
Book Banter
I am not wholly sure the dialogue wasn't changed from "Chinese" to "man" just to avoid the confusion, keeping the malapropism for the name "Confucius". Meanwhile, Midge's skirt fluctuates wildly.
Or I wonder if they might have kept "Chinese" if the word "Chinaman" wasn't in the next panel? We see they do warbled job retouching Midge's skirt in that panel at first.
Most significant is the second panel.
White pants are in now. Through it all, Betty keeps the same skirt length.
Aleister Crowley
Repeating the same words over and over like a magic incantation is no way to ensure that God will hear your prayer. Jesus encourages persistent prayer. But he condemns the shallow repetition of words that are not offered with a sincere heart.
