Is it possible to unleash a Saint Oratorio without an OutRage or similar technology?
Saint Oratorio is what you might call the “peak” of Magic Energy.
However, Magic Energy in this case is something that comes from the Backyard itself and takes the form of the spell “Saint Oratorio”.
Much like Saint Elmo’s Fire (a huge Lightning Bolt), all that energy has to be controlled and go somewhere in order to exist the way that it does, much like any other form of energy in physics.
If it doesn’t have a point to control it (like a Lightning Rod, aka Illyria Castle), it’s just raw destructive energy otherwise.
You can think of the Backyard as the equivalent of the Universe’s largest Star Nebula, it has a ton (well, far more than a TON) of potential energy that far exceeds what humans are capable of controlling.
The Saint Oratorio is just a spell that’s meant to take only a “fraction” of that energy and TRY and control it and direct it somewhere.
Without something that CAN control it, it doesn’t become a spell at all, just raw energy that will most likely disperse and cause destruction (like any explosion).
In Guilty Gear, what is the process in creating an Anti-Matter explosion from nothing but magic?
Anti-matter is what you call “Ultra Dense Matter that has exceeded its stress limit”.
Under normal circumstances, physical objects that cannot withstand an amount of pressure or resistance will simply break or break down in structure.
So, what happens when you try to break the hardest materials in existence?
Either the material or substance will be unable to break, break the materials trying to break it, or that amount of force/resistance will get cancelled out…
…Normally…
Gear Cells are made of a Dense Magic Substance that exceeds the physical mathematical limits of this World projected from the Backyard.
Just like what happens in computer programs, if the stress value exceeds the placed limit, like 255, the number value will flip.
When the limit flips, it distorts the code around it. Just like how Pac-Man 256 works.

Because of that instability, Anti-matter is explosive in nature and said explosions cause Information Flares that further spread instability.
What is the exact difference between Calavados Rays and Gamma Rays? Are Calavados Rays easier to produce than Gamma Rays?
First, let’s talk a bit about Power Output and stability.
On the lowest end of the spectrum, you’d have small feats of Magic energy like something Zeal fuel can produce. This is the easiest to produce and control at low levels from everyday Zilpods. This includes things like Answer’s Magic Cellphone.
Next you have low-output Magic Arts (Houjutsu) and Theories that trained fighters can wield. This ranges from Ki fireballs to techniques like Axl’s Sparrowhawk stance.
Moving upwards in control and output, you have low-output Magic that is only produced by none other than the 8 OutRage Sacred Treasures. Examples would be Gunflame or Stun Edge Charge Attack. These are harder to use because of the ‘cost’ in using them, like stamina or the focus required to control Lightning as an element.
Further up, you have higher output Mana devices, like the Mana engine built in Sol’s Firewheel Mk II Manacycle. Normally such advanced tech is common only in Zepp.
Beyond that, you have more advanced Magic techniques, like the Dimensional Blood Seal used to Seal Justice away, or what we commonly refer to as Overdrives or Chaos Attacks like Sol’s Tyrant Rave or Ky’s Ride the Lightning.
Right about here, you’d find techniques like Imperial Ray, which is about “half” the normal output of Gamma Ray. Dizzy and Justice exclusively use these attacks. According to M.O.M. the maximum output of Imperial Ray is 51 Strength and 51 Magic in terms of requirements.
Now, Calvados comes in several flavors, but is most commonly known as a “Calvados Bomb”. The Bomb version is sometimes Poisonous, but can also be used to drop depth charges of raw Magic energy like what Jack-O’ uses. The Calvados Bombs have low Power Output but high Magic and Technique output with just a baseline amount of Spirit Energy (M.O.M. data).
Then there’s Ramlethal’s concentrated 'beam’ Calvados. This has a Power output of 20, but a Magic output of 80 or so at its maximum. The emphasis here is on raw Magic Energy. Even that much power is enough to destroy an Airship fleet or two, nevermind just killing someone!
Then there’s Dizzy’s version of Gamma Ray, according to M.O.M. a Magic Output of 87 is its maximum. To give you an idea how strong a “small-scale” Gamma Ray is, it can destroy 3 Airship fleets of the Sacred Order in a single sweeping blast! And that’s a 100 % Tension move! But even THAT is not Gamma Ray’s true form!
Moving upwards in scale as far as Magic output goes, you have the Collider cannons built in Daryl’s personal Airship fleet, that nearly destroyed Sol and Jack-O’. However, the Absolute Defense Barrier Felion is an even denser Magic structure, which protected them! Of course, Sol’s Dragon-Installed Tyrant Rave is right around here in terms of power output, but only the lowest end. It wouldn’t be able to break Felion.
After that, is Sol’s Junkyard Dog with adjusted power output, which he used at 5 times the normal output to try and burn Ariels at point blank range (said to be capable of destroying a Mountain!)! Ouch! But Ariels withstood it! What a monster!
Further up in scale are natural Magic phenomena, like St. Elmo’s Fire, the huge Lightning bolt they tried to resurrect Justice with! A single bolt of that Lightning, if Illyria wasn’t grounded, would destroy a whole City in one shot! You also have the Information Flare explosions generated by Anti-matter Gears, which produced about… 1/16th the output of Saint Elmo give or take. Megadeth Gears and Leopaldon’s “Perfect Rainbow” beam do about the same in terms of collateral damage. Babylon’s population got wiped out by the Information Flare the Cradle (Justice in sleep mode) generated.
Beyond that… is the REAL Gamma Ray, the one that left a great big gaping hole in the Pacific ocean where Japan used to be! I’d say it’s comparable to the Marianas Trench. Normally that output is Internationally UNSANCTIONED because of the Nuclear fallout potential! Ridiculous after the fact to say, but that single shot was Output + 40 according to Asuka R. Kreutz, so he actually overshot it beyond what is normally capable!
Of course, he disengaged Justice OutRage armor before he fired, so who knows how strong the beam would be if the OutRage was WORKING IN CONCERT WITH IT!!!?
At the very top of this list and by far the strongest 'hypothetical energy’, is the Saint Oratorio itself. Sol says even with all 8 OutRage he couldn’t safely control it, and the fact he used a Balmung class (low output) shot of it to “light” the Junkyard Dog and activate Justice so Jack-O’ could overwrite her memory core, means he really got in the firing line and risked his life! As a matter of fact, it literally TOOK that much energy to knock Pope Ariels out! Yare-yare da ze!
Anything beyond this would be something only the Backyard is capable of!

Particles are fun to explore, it's amazing what you can create with them! 🪄✨Today, we'll make you feel like a wizard 🧙♂️ as we guide you through creating an interactive magical sphere using Particles in Spline.
Throughout the series, Guilty Gear has referred to Magic(the energy itself, not the elements) as Magic Energy, Magic Particles and Mana. Do these terms all mean the same thing or do they refer to different aspects of Magic?
I’ve already covered a basic explanation of what they are… but as to their history:
Mana (法力 “Houriki”) is the oldest term and refers specifically to both “Mana” and “Magic Energy” simultaneously, you can think of it like MP in RPGs. The more correct definition is “Magic Energy” when using the definition here. “Zeal” is a fuel that converts in to “Magic Energy” via “Zilpods” for a more in-series example.
Using Mana to perform Magic Techniques (法術 “Houjutsu”) is the second oldest term, and refers to the variety of techniques, both powerful (High Level Magic / “Magic Exceeding the 12 Steps”) and forbidden (Forbidden Magic / Soul Binding Arts) most commonly known as the 666 Arcanum as explained in the GGXrd Library and Codex.
“Magic Particles” is actually a hybrid term invented in Western Localization jargon to simplify referring to the nature of Science that Frederick studied before/during the Ecosystem Evolution Project (or “Gear Project”).
The full name is “The Study and Research of Magic Energy Particle Physics” (法力エネルギー素粒子物理学の研究 “Houriki Enerugi Soryuushibutsurigaku no Kenkyuu”). To explain, it’s the “research of” because Magic Energy Particle Physics was still in a theoretical phase back then, since Magic was still a new concept as of 2014.
That in and of itself is a Mouthful (and a recently used term in GG2 Overture’s Material Data to boot), so we’ve taken to using either the term “Magic Particle Physics” or just “Magic Particles” to describe it when talking about what Magic Energy (Houriki) is on a sub-atomic level.

How extensive is Sol's knowledge on Ki? Assuming, as you've theorized, that Ekitoku aka Dominator is a Jinki that amplifies the power of Ki in an individual. Has the subject ever been brought up to or by him?
The only indirect example I can give is when the Cradle was activated over Babylon.
——————————
Sol: “That energy… could there be another Valentine?”
——————————
Basically, Sol was able to “sense” a very powerful amount of energy coming from that location.
But, Chipp Zanuff states that he identified it as a ‘swirling mass of Ki’.
So then, it’s reasonable to establish the idea that what Sol “sensed” was a vast amount of Ki coming from the Cradle.
“Houriki” (Magic Energy or “Mana”) has the word “Ki” rooted in it as you may have guessed. In order for any sort of spells to be cast, a person must be able to tap in to that energy and use the right code or “chord” program to activate a spell.
Still, raw Ki is not quite the same as Mana in this case… raw Ki has the power to amplify power output… much the same as the basic function of the OutRage.
In the case of Ekitoku the Dominator (Ekitoku 益篤 means “Increasing Fervor” or “Force Gainer”), so in a way it’s kindof like a certain 'Emperor’s Gauntlet’ from another anime.
I can’t say for certain if it’s 'exactly’ like that, but if Sol (Frederick) built the thing, then he knows how it works and if it’s something that works with Ki, or even Houriki as a kind of amplifier… then all the more so he would know just how dangerous a thing like that can be in the wrong hands… which is why Sol has been on a journey to recollect the OutRage since the end of GG2’s events.
