Sage and Paprika from Magic Spices - 2015
Concept for a webcomic I wanted to start soon called Magic Spices. Two modern witch sisters taking care of each other while their parents travel the world for magical enlightenment. Sage, the second eldest child is in charge of taking care of her youngest sister, Paprika. As the sister’s brother, Basil, had left to study to become a lawyer, Sage is left with the task of taking care of her younger sister as well as teach her how to harness her magic’ however, Sage herself, who had recently graduated high school, does not know what she wants to do as a career or what lies in her future. Paprika, on the other hand, is overly fascinated by magic as well as every-day life, creating a dynamic between the two sisters that leads to exhaustion and misunderstandings.
Magic Spices is set in modern day Watsonville, California and follows a magical Filipino-Vietnamese family as two sisters learn how to take care of each other and themselves. While keeping their magic a secret, they influence multiple people and create a stronger bond then they would ever have had.
